Possible Bands After V Announcement

It would apppear to leave Mumford free but I'd be surprised if R&L was their only UK festival this Summer, I think it's more likely that they aren't playing any after a hectic touring schedule.

Paolo Nutini definitely not, Jamie T hopefully.

I still think/hope Chase & Status might turn up. They toured a f**k loads of festivals last year, one after another, both live & DJ sets, so I hope they can turn up.

Perhaps a band called Mona might be there. Friendly Fires & White Lies too.

I think the R+L line up this year will be dissapointing (like all the other festivals so far, too saturated with bands that have been played to death).

Here's my list of bands I thought might have been announced for V or at least a good chance of being announced & would have been big enough for their 1st annoucement but weren't - not saying that they will all be at Reading (but here's hoping for the majority) -

Mumford & Sons,

Friendly Fires,

White Lies,

The Horrors,

Foals,

Vampire Weekend,

MGMT,

The Streets,

Bombay Bicycle Club,

Two Door Cinema Club,

Deadmau5,

Interpol,

Klaxons,

Florence & The Machine,

Noah & The Whale,

Delphic,

We Are Scientists (could do what they did in 2007/2008 - sub slot in NME Tent one year & main stage following year),

Franz Ferdinand - am thinking could be a plausible NME Headliner instead of a high main stage slot

Other acts who I think are pretty much certs/have a good chance of playing - All the stuff we pretty much already know about - Muse, Elbow, The Strokes, Pulp, Frank Turner Crystal Castles, Everything Everything, Magnetic Man, The Vaccines & in addition Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout, Rise Against, 30 Secs To Mars, Panic At The Disco, The Subways, Dropkick Murphys etc....

Something a bit more out of the blue that I would love - PJ Harvey esp would be sweet, M.I.A., The Rapture,

Yeh they are but they could still turn yup & do a DJ set easy or even (what I would love) headline NME. Playing at V doesn't neccessarily make them exclusive (I don't think) & they have a whole week to get their kit from Staff/Chelm to R+L. They've toured festivals with closer performing dates inbetween (ie headlined Beach Break on Thursday evening then were at Glastonbury on Thursday & Friday). Perhaps I'm clutching at straws.

It extends down the bill. Seriously, have a look through the line-ups for previous years and try and find established bands that have played both.

From the very helpful Q&A thread:

Why can’t a band play V and R&L?

People are writing off bands who have been announced for V because established bands very very rarely play both festivals in the same year due to the fact they are a week apart and in direct competition. Some say there’s a clause in contracts preventing bands from playing both, others say they just deliberately book completely different bands. Either way it just doesn’t happen.
