It's not really in the festival spirit to be running off to your car, people aren't going to rob your pants & socks, you don't need to check your phone every morning. Just have fun and leave the worrying until Monday morning.

another helpful thing is to take speakers!! you dont know how much of a godsend they actually are :D

baby wipes, toilet roll etc...ALWAYS take more money then you need! never know if it gets robbed or anything! :D

finally... before you set off to leeds fest have a crap! :P means you have to do less when your there ;)

Advice:

Don't take speakers, they are always shit. Take a radio or if your strong enough a boom box. We listened to the Wombats on Radio 1 opening the festival in '08 & the crowd quite clearing singing "F**k you" when they covered Killing In The Name at quarter past eleven in the morning.

hahaaa :P .. my friend had his clothes stolen believe it or not :|

i was really scared of having stuff stolen... we had a huge 8 man tent near the footpath next to a big england gazebo.. was an easy target!!

we left everything in the car but valuables in a secret compartment under the seat... i dont think someone would break into a car when they could easily get stuff from peoples tents :P

See, that's the sort of attitude that bugs me. If people want to go back to their cars, or if they - like I probably will this year - stay in a hotel near the site, why should it be such a bad thing? There's nothing wrong with somebody choosing to make the conscious decision to avoid the vast amount of noise and people if they want a bit of piece and quiet after 12 straight hours of rock music - it doesn't make them less manly or, God forbid, 'boring'. It doesn't take away the 'festival experience' either.

It's not a pre-requisite to enjoy a festival to sit in the campsites. I had a bloody good time when it started last year but the camps and the people in them are a massive turn off for me, so I probably won't go into one again at Leeds and any subsequent, much tamer festival I do attend, I'll go to the quiet camp site. I'm not ashamed to say that I'll be doing these things so I don't think it's right that people are made to feel as if they should be.

So we've discussed where we camped last year, and it was pretty close.. and I now know that you have this routine for the tap, which I assume is the one at Henry's gate............. prepare to see a 6ft guy in a wig just waiting for you to turn up Couchy! :P

Camp in Orange (provided you're at Reading) if you want the quieter life, it doesn't have the kids who seem to be let out the house for the first time so find it suitable to act like complete c**ts (which we saw when having a bit of a walk around Sunday night). It's pretty quiet and has a nice atmosphere & isn't as far away from the arena as people make out.

This is all irrelevant if you're going to Leeds however.

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
