Things to avoid at glasto

One thing I would avoid is drinking like a madman on the Wednesday evening, eating a huge Burrito with extra Jalapenos, washing it down with organic mead, Burrowhill and a random stranger's bottle of paint-stripper strong vodka and coke. I did that in 2009 and ended up with the shits for 3 days as a result, which at Glastonbury has a whole new dimension of unpleasantness.

Personally my choice isn't to wait around for ages to see one band at Glastonbury - it isn't a loss for me. I do other stuff, I see bands that I can see close up even if I get there quite late, I see others from a distance, I choose to give others a swerve because even if I do get there early, I don't find being in a crush that nearly makes me faint any fun any more.

I acknowledged in my previous post that when I was younger I might've done what you did, but what I thought was fun then (and it was - your post did remind me of experiences I had mislaid), I now find stressful. As I said - each to their own. I thought I had fairly clearly respected your point of view, you could try the same with mine.

We could continue to argue about it after I've agreed with you, but I wouldn't call that "nice & friendly".

The written word is a funny thing so I hope that isn't too ranty - but I never thought I'd get called for being lazy at Glastonbury!

Not having any wood for a fire, gets damn cold, also adds a nice homely feel to your camp when you get back. If you fail to find a wood pile on arrival get some bagged stuff from the rear of the Other stage near Glade, about 7 quid a bag, get camp peeps to chip in, they also do a discount if you buy a few extra :)

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
