Dave Grohl - Godlike Genius in NME

Well firstly the NME launched their American side to feature people like their American NME Godlike Genius winners Jane's Addiction. Seems weird to give the british one to him, when we have always given it to an underappreciated, or less commercial act like your Wellers, Cure's, Screams, Ryders etc... Plus what has Grohl done that is exactly genius? What did he invent? or do any different to anyone else?

Shit choice was a bad use of word. Bad choice or Odd Choice would have been better.

No place for personal insults on here, we are merely discussing a subject.

If they shouldnt win it twice, then why would they have been nominated? The fact of the matter is that out of the nominees, personally I think they should have won it, as out of the nominees I believe they deserved it, regardless of whether they won it before.

This is all a matter of personal opinion, and people should be able to express that opinion without someone feeling the need to flex the muscles in their fingers and call someone a retard.

But a godlike genius award is to honour a bands whole career? Hence why you only win it once in your career? And I've never seen them considered for it anyway, because people know they've already won it. The problem people have with you thinking they should have won it, is the fact they've already won it. It's a title that lasts your whole career.

Ok as a summary some people on here:

Seem to care so much bout Primal Scream that they have put themselves out there by suggesting them to win the Godlike Genius. Yet they haven't even realised they have won the award before.

Some others want PS to win the award twice without even considering that there are a hell of a lot of acts who deserve the Godlike Genius award probably more.

Fun.

All I want to add really is I reckon it's bout time PS were back on main stage at Reading. Although reckon they will do Latitude.

Second I doubt Dave Grohl will play Reading this year.. but will prob play there with the Foos as an exclusive next year.

I think we can all agree it's essentially a load of old pony. No Macca, no Bowie, no Dylan, no Zeppelin, no Jagger / Richards, no f**king idea frankly. They are all predominately nice indie guitar white boys designed to appeal to the middle classes. It's just soemthing used to promote whoever seems to be touring and nothing more.

Grohl fits in quite nicely in amongst that lot.

    • I think they mentioned it in one and interview that the concept of Passport is one thing that differentiates the Sziget from other festival and encourages to explore the site outside music stuff. I doubt they will get rid of it, they might just be late, like they are with everything else.
