WILL YOU ALL STOP DOING THIS???? ;)

I've spent enough money on albums I haven't yet given a proper listen to this year without you lot giving me lists of other albums I should be sticking in my Amazon basket :D

On another forum, just off the top of my head, I listed these five....

Villagers - Becoming a Jackal

Wintersleep - New Inheritors

Plants and Animals - La La Land

Les Savy Fav - Root to Ruin

Wolf People - Steeple

..... but when I've had a proper listen to the other 50 of so 2010 albums I appear to have in WMP that list may change......

For example, Cherry Ghost, which we only bought last week, and Laura Marling, which I haven't even listened to yet...... and the rest....

I missed this at the time (too much time away, clearly). I did a blog of the top 40 (perhaps overboard, but there was a LOT of listening done last year). Top 10 here: http://p15szY-a3. Joanna Newsom was waaaay out in front for me, but clearly she's comfortable making divisive albums.

I'm a teensy bit surprised at the amount of Phosphorescent love here, but then it is the EOTR forum! LA is a great song, but the rest of the album didn't do much for me (though lying around in the woods while they played on the Garden Stage was a highlight of the fest last year).

Might I take this opportunity to reiterate the point made previously, which is quoted in the above post.

Those in the headliner thread who express love for Ys but insufficient experience/enjoyment of Have One On Me: listen to it more, it will reward you! (Especially 'In California'.)

After the obvious Newsom and Sufjan (which instantly makes 2010 a great year in my book), the next best for me was Emanuel and the Fear and their first album "Listen".

Besides la Newsom, they are my other reason for visiting Endoftheroad. Superb baroque pop band with stunning songwriting and big (11 piece) arrangements. Can't wait.
