Hey everyone; can anyone help me out....I'm the Bassist in Godalming based folk band THE FREE RADICALS and we're playing on Sat./Surrey Ad Tent/9:00....

Problem is I've got tickets I paid up front for, to be able to play, that I'm yet to shift so PLEASE, if anyone here still needs em can you get in contact....I'm going to ...be £630 out of pocket as it is as they won't do me a refund! Happy to meet people on the day....we're on FACEBOOK too if you'd like to check us out....Thanks

------TICKETS--------

we will be selling tickets at a discount!

Weekend

+ camping = £110 (£100 from us)

Weekend - camping = £100 (£90 from

us)

Day ticket = £45 (£40 from us)

Call me or facebook me,

LUKE, for tickets:

HOME: 01483 428832

Mobile: 07775 965 826

PS: any chat about this would be welcome as I find this practice of making bands jump through hoops a little 'unfestival-esque'?!

Isn't it the case that you accepted a deal with the fest, whereby you got cheap tickets to sell to your fanbase and the profit you're able to make on those (if you can sell them of course) is your fee for performing?

I believe the idea is that the band gets a decent performance platform and one which they're able to make money from via the cheap tickets, and the festival gets to ensure that the small bands it has performing are able to bring an audience to the festival.

No one forced you to take the deal. You must have taken the deal believing your popularity was adequate to shift those tickets (else you've been somewhat daft).

It would have been similarly daft for the festival to book acts which have no appeal - and by doing things in the way they do them, it's meant to ensure that bands do have an appeal.

You can't go blaming the fest for a deal you've agreed to. It's not like it's the somewhat abhorrent "pay to play" method that is known to operate in other places, it's a deal which works for both - providing that a band hasn't over-stated or over-believed their own popularity.
