KOL have barely any stage set up at all. Nothing compared to Daft Punk in 07, and what their set probably will be.

KOL play so many festivals that you can't really think they are an expensive band? Daft Punk on the other hand have played so rarely that they can (and will) charge a ridiculous amount and still get loads of offers because promoters know they will sell tickets.

You got that from a terrible source then. KOL's price will be widely known.

Daft Punks price is still well unknown. (Unless Jim King has booked them). If you knew anything about agnecies/ managers you'd know that.

Wait till they actually announce dates and we'll see how big the hysteria is surrounding them (and you will be able to get a rough idea of how much they cost).

I'll fire over this link to him then, he can answer that.

Kings of Leon or Daft Punk, who would cost more to book to headline a festival?

For the love of christ, Jim King organises a major festival, he probably has access to who costs what all the time. Including Daft Punk. Plus aren't they signed to Soma? Surely JK talks to these guys on a regular basis and probably just slipped in the inevitable questions, 'How's Daft Punk doing?' 'Fancy getting them to play Rockness again?' 'How much?????'

of course you would be, cause you know everything and you're still right even when you've been proven wrong.

paul had a source to back up his point, you didn't.. but i suppose you're still right.

if it was 2007s price then there is no reason why poleski might be in fact correct in his assumption the daft punk would now cost more, if it was more recent (please let it be so) then if you flip it would also mean he must have made enquiries about KoL recently as well...

I don't think Disney having an absolutely amazing marketing team really proves anything. Plus, there is an incredible amount of hype for the soundtrack but ultimately this is to make people go see the movie. This is probably the most hyped movie I've seen in a long time, even without Daft Punk or the soundtrack which has only really took off in the last month or two, this movie was always going to be massive.

The more I read this thread the more I laugh.

It's great to have a discussion about things but sometimes you have to just admit you're wrong.

Anyway, back to the discussion. I think the film will bring Daft Punk to the forefront again and I think the album will sell well but mostly because it's the Tron soundtrack not because it's Daft Punk. It's a soundtrack album and will appeal to fans of the movie and Daft Punk fans but it won't have general appeal and I can't imagine the fans getting into them because of the film will invest and go see them play live.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
