I usually wear shorts throughout the festival. I don't find that I lose heat through my legs -- I'll wear a big jumper when it turns cold at night, but leave my legs bare.

It's easier to deal with muddy legs than muddy jeans, I find.

On the down side, pulling dried mud off hairy legs hurts.

My tip. Don't overpack clothes. Every Glasto, I take less and less, and it's still always too much. Same with the missus. She always comes home with half a rucksack of pristine clean clothes.

Don't waste space that could be used for booze and snacks. :-)

Take some old shoelaces. Tie your wallet and carkeys, and anything else you like to your belt, then put in your pocket. Less likely to drop it especially when merry. Almost dropped my carkeys down the loo once when rummaging about for wet wipes in pockets. The shoelace saved them.

If you've got shit-loads of stuff, make two trips to the car. There's nothing worse than a punishing walk when you've overloaded yourself. A gentle stroll back to the car to get more booze, water, wellies, chairs, etc, is more pleasant than killing yourself taking it all at once. Other people probably disagree and like to do it all at once.

if you intend to do an all dayer at one stage (like myself and my brother did last year 9am till 11pm at pyramid) take cereal bars and sweets. if you get to the front the stewards are really nice and take them over the barrier for you. and also make sure you take an extra card for the camera incase one gets full......on both cards take a pic of your phone number and address incase it gets lost

On the Boots v's Wellies subject, I'm going Boots and Gaiters. But My wellies will be in my car should it turn into Mud soup like in 2007. Waterproof trousers are a god send as is a good waterproof jacket. But we won't need them this year I hope so I plan on leaving them in the car too :-S

Other things not to forget would be baby wipes (if your not using the solar showers.) Make sure you have bog roll with you, if you forget or run out go to the lock ups and get a roll from there for free. Put items that are expensive that you don't want nicked like sat navs, car stereo fronts etc. in the LOCK UP with all the carrying equipment/bags and stuff that your not going to need till monday morning. No point it taking up valuable space in your tent ahy. You can go back to the lockup and get stuff out and put it back in when ever you want and it FREE!!!! Bonus.

One more thing, don't forget your Rolf Harris costume for Friday morning

Two things from me i guess.

First is take a big collapsible water holder to fill up with water to leave at the tent. It's handy if you're one who enjoys a wash (like the mrs), and more important it means you've got a shed load of water at the tent to drink in the morning if you're really hungover and can't face moving. Really can be a life saver, fill it up last thing at night when you get back to the tent. This year I'm using a 1 gallon plastic fermenting barrel i got for 99p from a brew shop.

The other one is for the smokers and something i've been meaning to take a photo for ages of but haven't yet. Get a thick old bootlace, tie it in a loop. Loop together some thick elastic bands and loop one end of them onto the bootlace. Tightly loop the last band at the other end of the string of bands to a lighter so it stays in place. Hang the bootlace round your neck. Hey presto, you're never looking for a lighter no matter your condition of time of day or night.

Only issues with it can be a) that everyone sees it and asks you for a light. Seems fun at first but can get wearing over 5 days and b ) be careful how you lend it to people when sitting down if you're a man, as a quick and careless release of it from a certain angle can leave you curled in a foetal ball in agony.

Definitely take a comfort bottle for use at night, saves you having to put your wellies on and wander off to the long drops - size is ideal for ladies to use but does take a bit of practice!!

Small sealable plastic sandwich bags for fags, papers, camera, mobile etc - not that they will be needed as the SUN WILL BE SHINING

Munchies, soft drink and a set of dry clothes left in the boot of the car for the drive home

Dot a small amount of alcohol rub under each nostril (preferably the lemon one) when entering a particularly horrific long drop/portaloo.

This masks the smell and gives a quick hit of pure alcohol straight to the brain.

Also take Alka-Seltzer XS dissolved in water on first waking each morning of the festival. They really are the drinkers best friend.

waterproof poncho instead of clingy/sweaty anorak. Lets you breath. You can sit on it even if slightly muddy. Better than waterproof pants anyday.

Hat with a lip on it. Either baseball cap or cowboy style. It completely changed my festival when I fianlly bought a cowboy hat from one of the stalls. No more wet face and squinting. Might seem obvious but it wasn't to me at the time until I put it on.

Also a collapsable umbrella for those really heavy downpours. Now I know this isn't going to happen but you can take it home with you. But please don't be a fookin mong and put it up infront of me at a stage or I'll be opening mine where it hurts the most.

I am a firm beliver in boots with waterproof socks. I hate wellies and watching people clean them at the taps while i'm waiting to fill a bottle of water really does get my goat.

Take a bag to carry round in the day. I always put the following in it:

- Warm jumper/fleace

- Waterproof

- Sun Glasses

- Sun cream

- Sun hat

- Woolly hat

- Bog roll

- Antibacterial hand wash

- Beer and plenty of it :-)
