Hi,

I have a flight out of Gatwick on Monday the 28th at noon, so I have to figure out how to ensure I am back in London by 9am. I want to stay until the end of the music.

Any recommendations?

Can I rely on the 6am shuttle getting to Castle Cary in time to make the 6:39 train? Will I even get on that train? Mind you I'm willing to stay up all night to do so.

Does anyone know of a bus in the middle of the night? The earliest I can find leaves at around 6am and won't get to London in time.

Can anyone offer a lift Sunday night or very early Monday am? If you can offer a lift I will be grateful forever and happily pay you.

Please help! I'm completely stuck and horrified.

Thank you so so much if you can help

I[m assuming it's Monday 28th, you mean.

I reckon I wouldn't rely on the bus and that.

year before last we had flights back on Monday evening from Heathrow and it was pretty close. We now book flights for the Tuesday

I'd look to leave after the last band you want to see finishes on Sunday. You'll find a lift, I'm sure, don't fret

Taxis to Castle Cary apparently cost around £15. Google the local taxi firms to try and pre-book your lift (well in advance if you can) from the pick up point up at PGA.

Flying back on Monday morning is a bit scary, you never know what the weather conditions are going to be like. Two years ago when it did not stop raining for the duration of the festival the bus system was a mess. I am not trying to scare you but don't leave it to the end.

I suppose that the check in is at 9, because if the flight itself is at 9 then you have to be there two hours beforehand. That means that you have to be at the check in desk at 7. Needing at least half an hour to get your self in to the airport and to find the desk itself. Other then that you need to get to the airport from victoria station which is an other half hour minimum. So that means that you have to be at the train station at least at 6am.

Well if i were you I would get lease a car, pack every thing on sunday afternoon and then leave just after the last gig. Get close to the airport and sleep there. I wouldn't push my luck too much. Or else see if you can reschedule your flight. I have always flown back home on Tuesday. This time I am flying on Monday because I am getting the first coach out of Glasto at 0730 and flying home at 2100.

The drive alone to the to the airport is about 3 and a half hours with out traffic and driving over the speed limit. (and getting stuck on the M25 in some shitty diversion)

If you are going to Gatwick you would'nt go to London anyway, you would change at Reading from where there is a direct service to the airport.

Just looking at National Rail, if you got the 0638 from Castle Cary and change at Reading you will arrive Gatwick at 0959.

If you got the 0727 from Castle Cary with a change at Reading and then Redhill to Gatwick then you arrive at 1039.

Anything after that and your screwed.

I think you're leaving it a bit too tight. Maybe you could try to rearrange your flight for the Tuesday?

This can often be done fairly cheaply, for a small administration charge and the difference between the flight prices.

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
