Saw Freebass on Monday night at York Duchess. First gig of the tour, and you could tell they weren't that well rehearsed as they spent a lot of time, heads down concentrating on playing right. Managed to pull it off though. Although as someone else posted on one of the other postings - Hooky was quite miserable until towards the end.

BTW Mani tweeted to Emily Eavis a few weeks ago after U2 pulled out asking if Freebass could have their slot or any other at the festival, I'm guessing they were added to the bill soon after.

He's closed down his twitter now, which is fair enough as he did make a massive twat of himself

You can't say

"I've actually got an ongoing career, so I don’t feel the need to exploit my past glories. I exist in the here and the now."

and

"I'm getting back with the 'real' players tomorrow, thank f**k. Can’t be doing with talentless nostalgia f**kwit whores."

when your main gig this year is performing an album from 19 years ago. One which he didn't even play on.

Mani is one of my favourite bassists of all time and he comes across as a top bloke. An all-round legend basically. But I don't understand why he formed a band with Hooky in the first place if he condemns Hooky living off Ian Curtis' legacy. Personally I don't think he is, but why is all this coming out now? Poor form from the man tbh.
