looks like a lack of metal this year... Any one recon much more will be added? Limp Bizkit id watch, and SOIA, but theres nothing in terms of metal im really excited about at reading atm. Download seems to have an amazing lineup compared to reading atm!

how about some.. slipknot :P

reading/leeds never really has alot of metal - its mainly alternative/indie/rock, and then punk/hardcore on the lockup, and electropop on the dance stage

then whatevers popular in NME at the time on the NME stage, and cool stuff on FR

if download appeals so much.. why not go there?

Looks like itl be a lot of fun, tho ill be avoiding NME tent all festival by the looks of it save for Pendulum.

Ahh I see, well you'll enjoy it :P as for metal, its unlikely. The topic crops up every year.

BMTH and The Blackout played the FR last yr, so something like that might happen again.. if youre into those kind of bands. Not really metal, but heavier, and not really the stuff you find on the lockup.

It'd be good if Slipknot made an appearance to make up for cancelling in 08, i was devastated when that was announced :P

But at DL last year they were f**cking brilliant!

Theyd probably want a pretty high slot now though :/

No Metuhlz?!

Limp Bizkit - Metuhlz

Serj Tankian - Metuhlz

Lostprophets - headlined Download - so Metuhlz

Biffy Clyro - Metuhlz

Queens of the Stoneage - More like Queens of the METALage

Blink 182 - Booked to headline Download in 2005 - METALLLLZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!111

Paramore - Always in Kerrang - METUHLZ \m/

I think I've made my point.

:P

Yes it's probably for your own good.

Back to the original topic, when I saw the download headliners I was nearly pulled over to the dark side, glad I never got a ticket now as pretty much everything else has been crap after the first announcement. However I did hear some emo/scene kids moaning at the first announcement because of its lack of angry screaming/crying.

Compared to last year this year's lineup is much heavier. I think if you want a festival that centres around metal you should be looking at download or sonisphere, Reading generally concentrates on rock but its never really been a metal festival. In terms of the comparisson between Reading and download, I think Reading has a much more interesting and diverse lineup. I think when you've got a lineup that goes from Dizzee Rascall to Limp Biskit you're doing pretty well. Download this year risks looking like an old people's home with ACDC and Aerosmith, I know Reading has GnR but the other two headliners are both first time headliners, something I actually approve of, means that what we'll be seeing won't be something that everybody's seen before.

hope to god Rolo doenst play,. worst female screamo ever....

Would like to see As i lay dying or Sonic Syndicate or someone like that from Download playing reading.

But yea the diversity at Reading sounds sweet! Looking forward to lots of stuff there! If slipknot were gunna headline in 2008, i see no reason why heavy metal cant have a place at the festival. Tho id hardly call Biffy Clyro or Lost Prophets metal.

Looks liek the rap on the kitkat stage is gunna be good this year tho!

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
