Without meaning to be disrespectful to Dott again, I fancy a Selby-Carter final, as they're the most consistent.

Robertson's the best long potter in snooker though, so Carter's safety will need to be top drawer.

I know that Selby is EVENS (FAV).......

Selby - EVENS

Robertson - 11/4

Carter - 4/1

Dott - 11/2

Might have a speculative tenner on Dott

I'm not trying to defend Higgins, but this is the problem with spot betting.

Clearly Higgins is guilty, but another problem is the possibility of false positives. This has nowt to do with snooker, but does anyone remember that corner Wayne Rooney gave away on his Manchester United debut, from inside the opposition's half? If he had done that in the age of spot betting, his career would have been over.

No idea, only heard about it on the radio in passing.

Anyway, snooker and the night out in Sheffield was good. My mate only saw about 4 frames of the Friday afternoon session because he was too busy gambling. I myself saw at least 5, maybe 6...

I also spoke to a very nervous little Scottish man who turned out to be Graeme Dott's dad.

Is there really that much the snooker authorities can do about this? "...anyone found guilty of match fixing would receive a very, very, very lengthy ban". Well he's not going to be found guilty of match fixing, all he is guilty of is discussing it (probably). NOTW have promised fresh revelations on this, but surely they can't have that much more evidence, as the meeting only took place on Friday. You'd think if they really wanted to bust him, they'd have waited until he'd thrown a frame or two, and published evidence of that.

I'm also interested as to how these meetings with the investigative journalists came about. I'm suspicious of any newspaper whose second main story on their website is "Rihanna buys sex toys in Paris".

This is the sort of case where you take the right action, regardless of the legality or technicalities. If the law isn't on your side, you tell the authorities to stuff it.

What Higgins was prepared to do is worse than taking drugs. Sure, drugs are cheating, but at least it's cheating to win. I'm not condoning them, but anyone who has watched a single football match in the last ten years knows that everyone is doing that to some extent. Cheating to lose for financial gain is fraud. End of.

So looks like we've seen the last of Higgins. Sad in a way, the bloke has zero qualifications, no education and no life in snooker in any way shape or form. He’ll do well to get a job on a building site at this stage.
