I recommend Midlake. Not sure if they would be considered a big band or not? They are Amazing live, one of the best gigs I have seen. Just brilliant mixture of different guitar sounds, flutes and other instruments. Wonderful band, amazing harmony and lyrics. The sound they make is just so rich and expansive.

Plus they are playing the Park which should be a great stage for them. They would probably not be as good on the Pyramid.

I know that this might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you wanted to try something a little bit different and entertaining, catching some of Dubfire's set would be well worth a look in.

The man (Ali Shirazinia) is one of a fine bunch at Glasto to have actually earned a Grammy. He used to be one half of Deep Dish and is absolutely incredible live.

If not, I would def try and catch Toots and the Maytals for some reggae that you will most certainly have heard in the soundtracks to films such as This is England. Very cool.

Other than that, have a wander around and surprise yourself x

I'd go for Jerry Dammers' Spacial AKA Orchestra. Over 30 of the UK and Jamaica's finest musicians gathered in a completely insane celebration of maverick musical genius. The band are bedecked in Egyptian costumes and surrounded by bizarre pulsing lights, strange sculptural figures while overhead a spaceship flies by a giant glitter ball. It is huge fun - totally different but completely accessible.

The Spatial AKA Orchestra's main influence is Sun Ra's Solar Arkestra, the "cosmic jazz" ensemble led by a man who steadfastly maintained to the end that he was from Saturn. Dammers's arrangements brilliantly join the dots between Ra's work and funk, making the inaccessible accessible. At one jaw-dropping juncture, they play, in quick succession, not just Tubular Bells, but Joe Meek's I Hear a New World, a ska take on Erik Satie's 1893 solo piano piece Gnossienne No 1, the Specials' International Jet Set and the theme from Batman. It is a long way indeed from knocking out Too Much Too Young while wearing the limited-edition £99 Tonic Suit that Burton produced to commemorate the Specials' reunion.

At the end of their set on West Holts the whole band will head into the crowd still playing - possibly 'till the early hours.

I'd second Two Door Cinema Club, great new sound, playing twice as well. I'd also say Stornoway who seem to be made for thier slot and Blood Red Shoes/Egyptian Hip Hop who are both playing Queens Head.

Beach House - playing up at the Park on Saturday afternoon - cant think of a better time or place to see them, very beautiful, dreamy music to chill out to, check out their songs Zebra & Norway

The National - criminally underrated band playing the Other late Saturday afternoon - check out the last 2 albums Boxer & Alligator - chock full of amazing tracks

Goldheart Assembly - playing Avalon on Friday - will be big this time next year, mark my words! Some very nice tunes, check out the album Wolves & Thieves, and the track King of Rome

And Julian Casablancas, man I'm excited to see him. Lead singer of The Strokes but his solo stuff is completely different to The Strokes, a bit new wave but it's pretty good
