Help me out with Blink 182

I think the line-up's not too bad so far to be honest. G'n'R could be really crap and at the same time entertaining or they could be really good and Arcade Fire will probably surprise us.

I'm struggling a bit with Blink 182. What have they done recently to get them to headliner status? As far as I can see all they did was reform. Did they headline festivals in days gone by?

Limp Bizkit headlined Rock am Ring last year, surely they've got to be bigger than Blink??!!

Well the recent poll asking what the main draw to the festival was, IIRC the leaders were The Libertines (who people are doubting), and 2nd were Blink.

So obviously they are popular with the majority on here, and most people ive spoke to about the festival are really looking forward to seeing them the most.

So they must have done/be doing something right.

you clearly were not a fan first time around....

during the enema of the state and take off your pants and jacket era they were about as big as a band gets.....

and for people like me who grew up with them all through my school days (im 26 now) they hold a speacial place in my heart and many of there songs now remeind me to all the fun i had when i was younger, chasing girls and getting into trouble....

the 1.5 - 2 hours they will be onstage will be like stepping in a time machine again and reliving my younger care free days....

Well I've Been a blink fan for oooooo about 13 years now I think lol! Anyway you either love or hate there music but the fact is you ask anyone and i'm sure they will know at least one blink song, and if they don't play all the small things then they will!! They were massive some years ago and do have some sort of little cult following them, they only reformed last year and there are still alot of people out there that have not seen them live, remember there last tour here it sold our in under an hour think they did like 2 or 3 wembley dates aswell added because of it!! They are HUGE and maybe even bigger now then they were! I think alot of people will be amazed by the ammount of people that turn up that night, although I have to add they are notorious for not sounding that amazing live even though they know how to get there fans going! They are a summer band so will fit in perfectly, I can't wait to see them again it's been too long

well i think blink if anything got more popular slightly when they went on hiatus, LB have gone way down in popularity since the end of the 'Rollin' era. Will be great to watch them though.

When i went off to uni i was surprised at how many blink fans there were, it actually is probably just coincidental with the people ive met, but pretty much everyone likes them.

Im wondering what set they will play to be honest, pretty much just rolling off the greatest hits, I miss you in the night with everyone singing will be something to remember i feel.

After a quick look the Blink 182's post break up greatest hits album went platinum and charted 6, Limp Bizkit's post break up greatest hits charted at 47 and didn't even get gold.

I am surprised they aren't higher though, would of expected them at 3/4.

I heard one of their songs on the radio this week for the first time in what feels like a decade. I thought at that moment what I thought back when they were popular: they're some A&R man's cheap Green Day clone whose main appeal was always their 'wacky' videos. Didn't Green Day have to go through that misguided folky period on Warning to try and distance themselves from the copycats?

It is one of life's great mysteries that they can come back and automatically headline one of the world's biggest festivals. But, you know what, if they can fill the main stage and entertain a crowd for 90 minutes, I won't resent them for it while I'm busy elsewhere.

Just before they split up they played 2nd on the bill below Linkin Park at L&R 2003 who to be fair were f**kin HUGE at the time so i'm not surpirsed they are now headlining, as someone has already said they seem to be more popular now they've come back I know people who were like 12 at the time they split who now love Blink,

What confuses me is the whole Libertines thing, did I miss something? I was 17-18 when they 1st came out and thought they were utter shite, they never seemed that big and I read the NME (to my shame) every week, I couldn't name you 3 of there songs, I saw them at Leeds 2003 about 3pm on the main stage and they were shocking beyond belief now they are 2nd being billed as special guests! Beggars belief what for next year JJ72 reforming and headlining?

It was a mear conversation starter. :P

I would argue that a lot more than just NME readers care about the Libs reunion. but yeah i'm very excited for the libs. I was never in to Blink when i was younger so i don't have any real opinion on their performance this year though... Hopefully they won't dissapoint for those who arereally looking forward to it, but it's not really forme.

Arcade Fire - Think i'll head off to the NME tent after Libertines.

Blink - Very average for me, Klaxons just tempt me more. (And the MGMT and VW rumour.)

GnR - Depends who's on the FR stage, bu they are the only headliner i'll probably see. (Don't judge me) :P

The Libertines reunion was given a full page in a German newspaper yesterday. Apparently they are getting approx. 1.5M quid for the shows. Not sure if that's justified.

    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
