I'm not sure where the rumour started or where it's gone but I for one would love them to play and be one of the headliners (would be a hell of a lot better than some of the other names rumoured as headliners ..... yes i am looking at you guns n' roses, blink 182 and MCR).

Three albums in, got bigger and better with each one, and if they can headline coachella then they are surely big enough for R&L and would also fall under the 'exclusivity' bracket

But there never was a Gorillaz rumlour. Just loads of people talking about them.

It is a rumour, more because people want them to rather than from sources

and they won't play because that'd be a good booking, something FR seem to want to steer clear of this year :/

Its a rumour created from people reading interviews with damon saying he wants to do festivals but doesnt feel like the time is right for Glastonbury yet. Most, if not all other festival line ups announced their top 3 bands on there main and second stages where gorillaz would prob play, leaving only Reading/Leeds. Very weak but possible rumour

it would be nice though to have 2 headliners that are massively popular and actually creating music of note now as opposed to bands that hit the heights of their popularity and significance in 1987 and 1999

The possible headliners for this year I thought were good:- Arcade Fire. Blink, Libs, GnR, MCR

Its different to all the other festivals, most have gone for flavour of the month chart toppers. Throw Gorillaz in got a good alternative line up
