Hey Jim,

firstly, congratulations to you and all at the Rockness team on producing the best line up yet! Some may argue the legendary 2007 line-up but I personally feel there is alot more variety than back then, ultimatley generating a better public interest in the festival and giving people the oppurtunity to discover new music (and comedians) and thats what Rockness all about right?!

As the festival is looming closer and closer I have a few questions I would like to ask. What are the expected figures of people partying at Rockness this year? Last year was 35,000 if I remember correctly, will we see, say another 5,000 this year? I know with the current economic climate and a certain ash cloud that many people will choose to go to a festival rather than set off abroad this summer. Do you see these factors drawing in more ticket sales? So what are your views on swapping a a dip in the med for Rockness, or indeed any festival? Do you see it as a viable option for a summer retreat? Also, for VIP campers like myself, I hear whispers of free massages? Could you clear this up please? My back is killing me!

Thanks again for your time Jim, its really great for you to personally answer the questions we post. I'll see you in 3 weeks! :P

Yours, Dean

Hi, if I take my motorhome do I need a full weekend camping ticket + a campervan ticket or just a full weekend ticket (no camping) + a campervan ticket.

Jk – hi Derek, you need a 2 or 3 day camping ticket (depending if you are arriving on fri or sat) and then a campervan ticket. Regards, jim

Jim,

Will there be a shop there this year to buy supplies such as juice, crisps, food, rolls, milk and other such stuff?

Jk – hi paul, there is a campsite store selling general provisions. I’ve just checked with dean who books the markets and he’s pretty sure they’ll have the above items. Regards. jim

Hey Jim,

I was wondering what you mean in the terms and conditions when you say "All persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 21."

Is this 100% valid as many of my friends under the age of 18 went last year unaccompanied by adults

Also if an under age person were to take alcohol to the festival would that mean they would have it taken off them and have there ticket rejected?

Another question is that I'm wondering if you can get the bands foals/beach house/the horrors playing at the festival as the Saturday is a very specialist day, and there isn't much variety as Aphex Twin and Leftfield are in the same genre, and there are no mainstream bands playing the Saturday

Thank you,

Regards Eliot Odgers

Hi Eliot, if you are under 18 then you really should arrange to go to the festival with someone who is over 21. Im sorry but if you are under 18 and you have alcohol then its no different to if the police stop you on the street and they will probably confiscate it. All noted on the line up but they were available for us. Hope you have a great time at the show. Jim

Hey Jim,

I bought an "early bird ticket", does this mean I get to go to the festival on the Thursday? as that's what early bird usually means at most other festivals?

Please can you give us details on early bird and vip tickets?

Thanks

Jk – Early bird means they are a lower price if you buy them earlier that when the tickets go on general release. VIP tickets get you access to the VIp camping and arena areas. Regards, jim.

"Hi Jim,

Can you please indicate on the website or on here exactly where Front Row Camping will be. You have told us that it will be in the purple camping, however will it take up all of purple camping?

The map sent out with the tickets (received today) only shows Purple Camping, no sign of Front Row Camping on the map whatsoever.

Jk – let me look into that as if you bought front row you should get the right pln showing where it us. Where did you buy tickets from? Regards jim. Ps front row is in the area adjacent to the concessions and vip camping in purple."

Hi Jim,

Have you had an opportunity to look into the final answer to the question above? I too have front row camping which was booked through ticketline. I am celebrating my big 30 at Rockness this year and there will be quite a few of us camping together but at the moment I am unsure if we can all get a pitch together if some people have not booked front row camping (because they did not get early bird tickets).

Really excited about celebrating my special birthday up there as it is such a great event with such beautiful scenery, fantastic music and brilliant people.

Sarah

Jk – hi sarah, purple campsites is going to be all of front row camping. You have to have front row tickets to be in there though. Have a great 30th. Jim

Jim,

i've had a good hunt around ticket sites but can't seem to get any confirmation if it is possible to upgrade tickets already purchased, to VIP ones. This was fine few years back but can't see any options for it now.

I've some friends that are VIP and others that are front row so would like to upgrade if possible!

Cheers

Jk – hi, upgrades are available in advance if you bought though ticketline and ticketmaster or on the day at the box offices. Regards, jim

Hiya Jimmy,

Any punk?

Cheers pal!

Jk – not this year!

Hi Jim,

I realise most if not all acts will now be booked.....HOWEVER whats the chances of Reverend and the Makers or even a Makers Soundsystem dj set?

Jon McClure has confirmed that the band are not booked that weekend, and he is very keen to see what Rockness is all about....he just doesn't know who books the fest to get it sorted!

I wouldnt imagine they'd be too pricey to book at all.... and they'd be ideal for an early evening slot imo!!!

Jk – hi, ive been speaking to james their agent. Not sure we can make it happen this year unfortunately. Jim

Jk – hi dean, thanks for the message. We’re ahead on week for week sales at the moment and think we’ll have the busiest show we’ve had to be honest but still some way to go. VIP does have more on offer this year than previously. We looked at some of the suggestions from last year and a lot of people asked for lockers and somewhere where they could plug electrical equipment into so we’ve added that as well as a free mobile phone charging area. The massages are just for a bit of fun. Definitely see you in 3 weeks. Take care. J

hi jim its getting quite close to the festival and just wondering when the travel will be sorted for student tickets?

Jk – hi there, we are almost sold out on the student ticket so all final arrangements will mostly likely be this week. If you have any direct questions on this probably best to email Ashley Adams ashley.adams@aeglive.co.uk. Speak soon. Jim

Hi Jim,

You mentioned before that ticket sales were up on previous years at that particular point.

Are sales still up on previous years / looking good?

Also when can we expect the rest of the additions to be added (is Jesse Rose confirmed)?

Cheers

Jk – yes we are up on last year. We’ve just added a few really good bands for the opening sets. I plan to get them out this week. Jesse is confirmed. Regards jim.

Jim,

Some tickets have Front Row and some have just EB next to the event title.

Should they all have Front Row on them and if not.. will the wristband staff know what does what area assuming you are having seperate wristbands for this area?

Hi Jim

I'm a bit confused about the bus travel. I have a student ticket and website says the bus leaves edinburgh at 930. My friends not got a student ticket and she can only get a ticket for the bus leaving at 12. How will this work? Can she get on the student bus or can I get on the 12 bus?

Many thanks

Hi all,

Jim, think its great that you're coming on and sorting everyones queries personally, nice touch and cannot wait for this years festival, my 4th running, gutted not to have made the debut!

Apologies if I am missing something and if someone other than Jim can tell me then cheers.

So from the way i'm looking at the question as it has already been asked there is VIP, Boutique and "front row" camping this year, all three of which are situated in purple area. This is the area I have camped in for the previous 3 ness's and was hoping to again this year, I only have a normal weekend camping ticket. Now i'm currently looking at the map/layout on the official website and can see the purple area, it is split into 4 sections within the colour. Two of these are labelled, one is "VIP" and the other is "Boutique", I understand that both of these sections are therefore off limits for me. Is the remainder the purple the 'front row' thing that has been introduced this year and thus the purple site is off limits to all BASIC weekend camping tickets or will some of the purple area still be ok to camp in if you just have a basic ticket?

Thanks in advance and hopefully you can understand what I mean!

Hi Jim,

I won three day vip weekend camping tickets the other day - Supposedly I will get an e-mail confirmation that I have to take to the box office with ID.

Was just wondering if I could show up on the Saturday morning instead of the Friday - cus I can't get the Friday off work.

Cheers,

Stu
