To offer some input from across the pond:

I'm actually sort of curious to hear them at this point, as I've not seen nor heard anything much about them over here (Kasabian).

I honestly can't recall them ever playing here...maybe they have, but it would have been low key and maybe a smallish venue like the El Rey (1500 to 2K maybe).

Muse on the other hand, I have at least heard of both on CD and live. They recently played the Forum (18K) and sold it out. They also used a Muse song for my favorite NHL team each time before they took the ice a couple years ago.

So, I would say that Muse at least has better marketing folks at getting them noticed and played here in the States. If you walk into a local chain store you'll see the new Muse CD, but since this topic has come up, I've yet to see a Kasabian disc I could even consider buying to check them out.

Now, none of this has any bearing on quality...(I can't tell you the last time I listened to actual radio in LA because it's so bad and just full of horrible, talentless hacks or oldies...I rely on my ipod for decent music)

But, I will be curious to actually hear Kasabian.

(edit due to my work internet knocking me offline as I posted)

I really don't rate Kasabian at all. I've been bored every time I've seen them, their set before Muse at Marlay Park in 2008 was so average after their lead singer had said that they would show Muse fans what a real live show is like. There's far better British bands out there, but Kasabian do have a fairly big following. I still don't think they have enough tunes to headline a festival though.

This thread is hilarious.

Don't know how to quote multiple posts:

1. What's the difference between first and second headliner? Um, the fee?

2. I'll be generous about Kasabian. On a good day with a following wind they're a very poor man's Stone Roses. And I loved The Roses but they never did a decent show after the first album came out. On a normal day they're a poor man's Oasis. Enough said. Upshot? I was willing to forgo being as near the front for Springsteen as I would have liked but I'd have rather gouged my eyes out with a blunt spoon than suffer that lot. Which leads me to...

3. I realise there is a long and tedious 278 million page thread about this but FFS, apart from BITUSA, what the hell did people who say that Springsteen was boring want him to play? I mean this most sincerely. I've just checked the set list and it's baffling.

4. The biggest British band? Like others have said you can't confuse biggest with best. Not my cup of tea but can't say Muse don't deserve it and will be bound to put on a spectacular show for those who like them. The best....Personally I'd love to see The Cribs near the top of the pile.

If The Libs were to reform in 2011 would they get offered a headline slot? Would have thought maybe on The Other Stage?

30. Why, are you gonna say grow up or something like that. I honestly think they are the best british band. I think they are original and that the standard of their music is v high. They seem to have a cult following which isnt always a bad thing. I dont see many british bands at the mo who i honestly think are any where as good. I cant think of any in fact. Maybe you will point some out to e and i will dissagree and we will be bickering till they are announced on the glasto bill an that will be my christmas an birthday present in one.

How patronising.

I agree. Although I'm reluctant to say they are the best british band, because that's a big title.

I was listening to their West Ryder album earlier and I think it's brilliant. It's the same standard as any Oasis or Muse album, but obviously they are all great in different ways. Kasabian have that "edge" (in my opinion), but maybe lack the stage presence of other bands.

Atlantic City, Blood Brothers, Does this Bus Stop at 82nd St, Lost in the Flood, Blinded by the Light, Rosalita, Thunder Road, Jungleland, Jersey Girl, Nebraska, Streets of Philidelphia, Murder Incorporated. Pretty much any of those (to name a few) would have done it for me. I thought his set was rather boring, if he hadn't kept me there with No surrender and Because the Night in the middle leading me to think it would get better I would have left. Oh and for the record I really was't bothered about BITUSA, I'm not a massive fan of that song.

As for Kasabian I'm deff in the just don't like them camp. Never have understood their appeal. Other bands I don't like but can get why others might but with Kasabian it all just seems to be shit to me.

Fair do's that's the first reasonable answer I've heard to that question. He did play Thunder Road though....and I know people who've been going to see him for 30 years who've only heard him do The River about 4 times. I agree Because The Night was a highlight, well done to whoever made the sign for that. Pity they didn't show it on the telly. Thing is though, I can list about 30 songs I'd have liked too. I knew I was never going to get them all!

Nah,just seems a strange thing to do,registering on here (re.your post count) to go on about Kasabian headlining, which clearly ain't gonna happen this year, and then argue about record sales and Brit Awards with people who don't agree about how great they are. Each to their own I guess.I think they're a decent singles band
