advice needed, pref from someone in the know bout security

jus a quickie, my mate wants to work security this year, he likes goin out and seein shit, so thought seein as he is quite a big bloke who knows what he is doin, it might be a good idea to do security at glasto, then on his time off there he can see some bands and shit he likes. he has his SIA licence (door/security license) jus wondering where he should go from here, should he contact glasto directly, or is there some third party company he needs to contact?

Maybe he should apply to an events security company (don't know exactly who Glasto uses), there's quite a few around. Bigger festivals often use stewards from a range of companies, for example I worked as a football steward last year and T in the Park used people from my work

He won't get much time off doing paid security work, we usually do 12-14 hours per day..

I worked 8 Glastonburys with the security company I work for, been to the last 3 as a punter and doubt I would work it again unless I was skint or unable to get a ticket.

There is a few security companies that work Glastonbury, Specialized Security, Stuart Security (along with DD Events), G4S, AP Security plus a couple others.

It's hard work.. but if you contact those companies you might get a start with them.

I've quite a few friends who work security, several that do major events sucha s festivals and gigs and they don't really get to see the events they work as they are too busy and they hate that part of it all as it's frustrating so unless your friend needs the work/money then tell him not to bother.

Stewarding isn't too bad in terms of the hours but Security tends to involve much longer shifts.

I steward at a few fests but I always go to Glasto as a paying punter because I want to take my 'sensible head' off for a week and enjoy myself.

You can't do that if you are either stewarding or working security.
