Security cameras

Just saw this article about cameras installed at the festival.

Think this has been discussed elsewhere in the past (couldn't find the thread) but it's a tricky one. Obviously crime is an issue although the figures are remarkably low overall and most concerns tend to focus on tent thefts. Its not clear exactly what these cameras are being used for or aimed at. Might be the ones they use for the traps for tent thieves or might be more general crowd control / surveillance.

Have to say I didn't notice any on general view but that could just be the cider :P

It's long been a licence requirement for Glastonbury to have cameras.

Mostly I think they're used for monitoring crowd movements, so that if there's a congestion issue action can be taken to divert people away from that issue.

On the crime side I suspect that about as much use as the CCTV cameras on so many of our streets - not a lot.

I drink but just have never taken anything else?! I guess that's what makes Glasto such an awesome place, everyone can enjoy themselves whatever!

I don't judge anyone at all for taking them, before I get labelled a do good boring Mutha f**ka....

Is this actually a serious question? Of course it is and if you drink alcohol recreationally you are a

recreational drug user. Its hardly a pedantic point.

I've edited this to say that socially its not always considered as one, mostly because people tend not to like it when you class them as drug users.

I couldn't have put it better myself, so I won't. :P
