Glastonbury is commercial in many senses, from the management to the beer providers, from the audio-visual systems to the portaloos... not everything is provided out of the goodness of people's hearts... but it still retains an element of the magic that was born in 1970.

If the modern business of football offends your sensibilities then go and watch or do something else. The good (key) thing about Glastonbury is that it's so large and so diverse, there'll always be something for you to enjoy, and you aren't forced to do anything.

I LOVE kloot! I saw them last week in london. They played a couple of new songs fromt he new LP (not the B sides one, the proper new one) and one of them was astonishingly good. Dont know the name of it but I reckon the new album is going to be sensational.

They WILL be at glastonbury, I can feel it in my bladder.

PS I do like footy, but I am a watford fan so my bitterness towards the premier league knows no bounds!

Football nowadays is a grotesque orgy of mega wealth. Those players that will be playing on the big screen for england are the symbols of everything that is wrong with the world. While they are collecting £100,000 a WEEK to kick a bag of air around, thousands and thousands of people are dying from poverty.

If you think this sits well with an event such as glastonbury then you just dont get it do you.

Of course things like this are a part of life, but it would be nice if just for 5 days we could shut all this sickening excess out.

I like to think of glastonbury as a magical place to escape the mundanity and disgusting excesses of the real world.

Football nowadays, top level football that is, just about embodies everything that is wrong with the world today.

Why anyone would want glastonbury polluted by the grotesque thing that football has become is beyond me.

If they play Glasto, I will be as close as I can get to the stage - probably 'Down At The Front' (see what I did there? ).

I knew they were doing a B-sides album, but thought the new tracks were being mixed in with it. A completely new album AS WELL? Wow!! I hope 'Even The Stars' makes it on there.

They haven't played Glasto since 2005 - a great gig at the Acoustic Stage. By the Real Ale tent. What a day.

Yep a new one in addition to the b sides, it's being produced by Guy Garvey again too, just like Natural History. The B side album is worth getting though (if you havent already), there's a lovely version of Ferris Wheels on there, plus lots of other ace stuff.

I was there in 2005, I had thought it was the new bands tent though? No doubt I am wrong, no doubt due to the proximity to the ale tent!

Hope not, last time football was shown (2004 i think) the atmosphere was terrible....well when england lose anyway! Hopefully it won't get to that point though!

Nope - definitely the acoustic tent.

They also played in 2004 on the Other Stage, and John threw his guitar at the stage crew when they cut short 'Life In A Day' as they ran over!!

the world cup draw is in december i think, so we can see how it all clashes then. i will head along and watch the england games if i fancy it at the time, but i'm quite unmoved the them cos i'm only half-english, and the team is full of absolute twats as well. nothing on earth will make me cheer on a team featuring john terry, ashley cole or rio ferdinand. hideous.

i'm a little worried about a clash with any potential ireland games as they are a helluva lot less likely to be shown. mind you, got to bloody qualify first!

but besides anything else, it depends on what i'm doing, too. bands often appear on my plans and then get ejected, so i'm sure a bit of footy will suffer the same fate after a few pints and a good wander around. . . .

Why are you bitter towards England because you are a watford fan? Premier league I can understand but England I don't unless you aren't English. Will you definitely not watch it if it is shown?

What if Watford if it was Watford in the FA cup final and thousands of people wanted to watch that and they showed it, would you want to see it then? ( I know that wouldn't happen for several reasons including dates of the fa cup)

Yeah, it is available but being Kloot and being CRIMINALLY underrated, it's only available via Townsend records (like Moolah Rouge was for the first few months).

I met John walking to the gig he did at Bar Academy in Brum a couple of years ago, with Pete Jobson. He was lost so I walked him there - such a lovely, friendly bloke. Very funny too! I got a photo with him. He's TINY.

They rarely play in the Midlands though. Used to see them all the time when I lived in Manchester. They're probably my favourite band around at the moment.
