Can You Drink The Water

I am planning fill up empty bottles with the tap water for general drinking throughout the day. I am sure the water is safe to drink, but is it drinkable or loaded up with chlorine.

Its fine - tested more than your local water authority does thats for sure - maybe sometimes theres a little extra chlorine - depends on time of day and location in the past

it is drinkable, but i personally found it didnt sit right wiv me. ive got a camping stove this year so it'l be fine once boiled. but generally ill have to buy bottled.

I've drunk the water for years at Glastonbury. It's always been fine.

The water is fine.....also if you find the chlorine too much, if you fill a couple of bottles a few hors before you need them and leave the lids off the chlorine dissipates out of it.

I'm from Oxford and the water at Glastonbury is LESS chlorinated than the stuff that comes out of our taps, so a bit of a treat!

i find the water at english festivals to be pretty poor compared to the scottish ones. it is drinkable though.

the water is completely fine! and free, compared to 500ml of water for a quid - bleurgh.

i usually keep a few litres knocking around the tent so that at 5am i can wake up with a mad thirst and douse it out sharpish!

It does not taste very nice, and i am not keen on the idea of storing it in the new storage tank on site. Just my views thoug h as i know others say its ok, i prefer bottled even if its a bit expensive, after all its only for a few days so the expense does not come into it.

As every one is saying, all the tap water is safe to drink, though sometimes they do over do the treatment (making it taste a bit funny).

For those doing brew-ups, it may be worth buying a large bottle of water onsite if you find the taste taints your cuppa a bit too much for your tastes (though to be honest, the first cuppa of the day, I'm not awake enought to be that discerning).

If you are buying bottles of water whilst near the main stages don't buy it from the ice-cream vans they're a rip off.

Buy it from the Glastonbury Spring Water stands. They're cheaper and it's local.

Personally I think there should be an agreed fixed price for bottled water on site. Some are a lot more expensive than others. WaterAid to me means fair access to water for all.

Oh yeah, rant over. The water's ok, better than what you'd get in London.

Nothing wrong with a bit of sterilising chlorine. The average person swallows half a litre of urine every hour in a public swimming pool, and no-one gets sick from other prople's wee. Chlorine all the way!

Just to add to this, don't drink the water in the campervan fields. It's all ELSAN, even the sinks that aren't marked. I made the mistake of attempting to drink some from an unmarked sink, I was dieing from carrying stuff from car in the scorching heat!

My god...did anyone have the unfortunate experience of the Friday morning water in Pennards??? f**kING foul!!! Was white goddamit! Never tasted anything quite so chloriney in my life apart from Centre Parcs baby piss filled swimming pool water!!!

Been going for 14 years now and never witnessed or drunk water so yucky ever at the G!

i think people make too much of a fuss about this personally, most of the bottled water trade is a rip off, fair enough if you're not in the vincinity as a sink, but a lot of people snobbishly only drink bottled water.

the water as glasto is classified as safe to drink so unless you are really sensitive to the taste, getting bottles and bottles everyday is just a waste of money.

at the risk of sounding like a campaigner or something, there's people in less well off countries than ours who are happy enough to have a tap in their village, let alone have several in their home that have clean running water thats been treated for bugs and diseases etc.

Like Lucy, I filled up at one of the taps and it was white. Tasted okay in an hour or so. Then I get back to Lewisham and maybe they've upped the chlorine for swine flu or something but it is disgusting, and like drinking swimming pool water - yuk.... oh for some Glasto white water right now! I'm having to drink wine instead, which as you can imagine is a real problem.

The ONLY time I've ever lived on bottled water is in Countries where the water is well known to be 'dodgy'. I would never dream of buying it regularly at Glasto or anywhere else for that matter unless taps weren't available. Have bought the occasional bottle of Glasto Spring Water over the years though but only because it's nice and I was seriously dehydrated at the time so drank an entire large bottle in one go. Other than that, the old water bottle is always filled/refilled on passing by just about any tap with no queue at the time. Must have drunk gallons of the stuff. TBH, although the water sometimes seems to have more chlorine than is desirable from a taste point of view, it's generally much better than I get outta the taps at home ! It's certainly not that much more chlorinated anyway and no doubt hasn't been hanging around in manky old iron pipes for a dogs age either :angry: I think anyone daft enough to buy the li'l bottles of mega over-priced water on site deserves to be ripped off unless they have health stylee issues meaning they need to be particularly careful.
