Fleet Foxes

No I really like them.

But do continue to spend your time articulating how you don't like a band. I mean it's not like you're wasting time that could be spent on, oh, say, finding stuff you do like.

There's so much amazing music in the world, why waste your energy talking about the stuff you don't like? Unless you're directly asked of course, would probably be rude not to say it then.

Don't like? Just file under "don't like" in brain and then move on B)

I agree, but not based on the fact that they aren't any good...it all depends on the kind of music you like. Me, I love "americana" for want of a better term....Giant Sand, Midlake, Sufjan, Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket etc etc...all some of my favourite bands/artists and I hear bits of all of them in Fleet Foxes. As exponents of this genre, they are superb, but if none of the above are your bag then you probably won't get Fleet Foxes either. I'm quite surprised as to the level of "mainsteam" success they seem to be getting though, seems primarily to be based on critical acclaim, then people listen to them and think, "Oh, not what I was expecting...I don't like them". So, Pyramid is a strange slot for them. I'd prefer to see them indoors, and the acoustic tent has the best sound so I'd plump for there!...

I'm definitely from your school of thought here. Sufjan Stevens, Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes are some of my absolute faves (i'll have to check out Giant Sand too).

I was expecting them to be headlining The Park, but i'll watch them anywhere and imagine thousands of others will and will thoroughly enjoy them. They're not on late, it'll be a nice summery (hopefully) day and i think they'll be very well received.

I find threads like this quite strange. I'm bang up for advertising my enjoyment of a band, but if you're pretty much indifferent to someone i wonder what the point of instigating a debate about them is?

ive said this many a time....

what exactly do people think a forum is for?

to debate, dislike, like, argue, chat...

i hate it when people say why bash this artist....why not...thats why we have a forum....

if people stopped making stupid threads then people stop visiting then site loses advertising....eventually might even close....

its the bloody internet anyway people are allowed to say fleet floxes are boring c**ts, even if they arent....(they are though)...anyway, i dont know if anyone would agree with this?

Loved Mykonos. the album is shite.

fodder for "art school" types who want to sound interesting when expressing their taste in music.

The critics would never agree because they are generally of this type too but the Kasabian and Doves albums knock the absolute shit out of the Fleet Foxes album

I love the record. Really looking forward to it. Four part harmonies are rare in today's new bands.

I think they could be one of the highlights. This isnt Reading people.

Yes, that cultural trend setting behemoth that is The Guardian B)

Never mind that they got top reviews on DiS, Pitchfork, in Mojo, Word, hell pretty much blanket across the music press on and offline.

Yes, all the Guardian's fault.

Typical, I don't like something so everyone else must have been brainwashed because I'm independent and cool B)

Not at all, just not a scenster with the opinion that a band is crap when it becomes popular and a band that the broadsheets champion and sell very little units are amazing. Not knocking anyones musical taste, just gets a bit annoying when living in the North and you hear posh Southern ever so green students banging on about how much Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver and Regina Spector are tooootalllly changing the world when they could barely name a Hendrix, Stone Roses or Doors song.

    • Missing the festival this year? Want a bit of nostalgia for the old days? Local to Manchester? Our community venue in Stretford (Trafford) are showing the premiere of  Glastonbury the Movie, 30th anniversary cut with q&a with the director! It's on Saturday 6th June, hope some of you can make it. And maybe even spot yourself in the crowd! We have a cameo in the closing credits 😁 unless it's been cut in the new edit.   https://stretfordpublichall.org.uk/event/glastonbury-the-movie-30th-anniversary-cut-12a/

    • Oh, I'd read about agreements with the Tories but fair enough. That's more reasonable.   I don't think Green/Tory in rural areas is that weird. I don't really think the Greens are the saviours of the left like many. A lot of long-standing Greens have been NIMBY pro-environment centre-right ex-Tories. I'm probably voting Green because I respect my local branch and they're one of only two parties not doing hate speech (sincere or performative).   I don't really support full PR either. I hate party-list systems and value the constituency links. I actually thought AV was an excellent balance, (really I want AV+), but I think with the collapse of the 2.5 party system FPTP has to go. I also need to explicitly say that I wouldn't even rank Labour within AV now.
