I really like the fact that this poor soul is wanting to share his huge disappointment at not being able to go to Glastonbury and the overwhelming response has been to make jokes on his behalf.

Mind you he is hogg ing all of the attention for himself!!

Did you get insurance of your ticket? If you didn't you could probably bribe them into giving your money back. "Hello, I've got swine flu, if you don't refund my ticket I'm gonna show up and infect everybody and get you in the shit with the press".

because, swine flu is pritty similar to normal flu. if you have ever had normal flu you would know that you dont have the energy to even get out of bed & get yourself a glass of water never mind be posting on a forum.

the saying goes that the way to tell if you have a cold or the flu is: if you are layed in bed & have a cold, if someone placed a £50 note at the end of your bed you would reach to pick it up. if you have the flu you wouldnt give a crap wether there was £1000 never mind £50.

How do you know??

because I've been paying attention enough to know that if you have swine flu they don't quarantine you. :(

When I had flu at around the time of the first cases (swine flu? Who knows? The doctor I saw certainly didn't), I was told by the doctor to stay home to avoid infecting other people - it's the standard idea that you're meant to adhere to when you have flu, and the exact same thing you're meant to do if you have swine flu. Yet who really stays properly isolated when they have 'standard' flu? Very few I reckon - after all, if you need to buy in food, you still go shopping for it, etc.

All evidence to date strongly suggests that swine flu is harder to transmit to others than 'standard' flu.

It also suggests that it's a less dangerous version of flu than 'standard' flu, as the death rates to date from those infected is lower than for 'standard' seasonal flu (deaths from flu most normally happen to those with other health problems) .... however, it might be the case that the lower death rates are being caused because fewer than expected older people are getting it, currently thought to be because many of them got flu in a previous mild flu pandemic in the late 50s which appears to have given them some immunity to this latest version.

Did you know that in the first UK case of swine flu (the guy in Scotland), he'd been to a Doves gig in Edinburgh between returning from Mexico and starting to feel ill? - there were over 600 people at that Doves gig. The official response was "no person at that gig could have become infected by being at that gig" (along with telling him to keep quiet about having been to that gig, which he didn't), and that's despite people being most infectious prior to showing symptoms. As the health authorities had so little concern over possible cross-infections in an enclosed space, then they're taking the piss suggesting he stay at home and miss Glasto when the possibility of cross infection in the open air is far far lower. ;)

While it's possible that he might infect others, he'll be past the time when he'd be most infectious by the time Glastonbury starts. If I were in his position, I'd probably go.

Mind you, there's one further factor .... I'd guess he's been prescribed Tamlflu, which I'm told by a friend whose daughter's school has been closed due to swine flu and so been given it that it gives people the squits. I think I'd maybe skip Glastonbury if I had the squits. ;)
