Vodka skittles/sweets/anything

About to make the all important choice of how to infuse my vodka!

I know the popular choice is skittles, but I'm feeling a bit left-field - I was thinking maybe cherry drops?

But, I was also wondering, will you have to filter it no matter what combination you do? Filtering sounds like a damn load of effort

I'm trying to find some of those jolly rancher sweets you used to be able to get. I think everything needs filtering but its not a big job at all. You just Pour the vodka into those coffee filter cone things. They're less than a quid for a box from the supermarkets

I just did my first every fusion with these random orange flavoured boiled sweets from Morocco. Its very sweet, but you only get the aftertaste of Vodka, its pretty cool and I can't wait to get started o some more.

raspberry is the best by a long way. To do it you must

1. Get shit cheap vodka

2. 1 punnet of raspberries per 35cl

3. Put them together in a 2l bottle

4. Shake

5. Add sugar daily until the vodka can hold no more shake before and after adding sugar

6. Leave for about a week after it can take no more sugar

7. get an old t-shirt or cloth or sieve and a bowl

8. Pour mixture into strainer thing and squeeze into bowl

9. When only the seeds are left and the raspberry bits are white you have finished

10. Drink

11. Pass out when you have forgoten in is VODKA and that it is STRONG.

From a 75cl bottle you should make about 1L

Take packet of chosen confectionary; smash to smithereens in a bag with a rolling pin/masher/insert implement with suitable sweetie smashing capabilities, then pour remnants into bottle of vodka. Give it a good shake to allow bits to dissolve - et viola!

please note - I have only followed the above technique with confectionary of the boiled variety - not too sure if the same method can be used for choc etc

I found cherry drops didn't give much flavour at all. Not everything needs filtering. Glacier Mints and Werthers don't. Skittles do. I think it's the ones coated with some sort of hard case like skittles that will need filtering.

You can also wash the sweets first, which will reduce the need for filtering.

...really easy to get them in the States...don't see them very often round this neck of the woods...they were great though, nearly broke a tooth with them once mind!

we use just a standard 70cl bottle of vodka & have one of the large grab-bag type things of werthers (more to go through then than a packet just in case). Just keep adding them til your happy with the taste - depends how harsh you want it. Prob between 2-3 packets worth, but would def recommend having a grab bag in case you want more/less

I reckons rhubarb and custard is the best flavour out and doesn't need any scum filtering out. JElly babies are good too and dissolve really quickly.

If you don't have much time left for your infusion screw the cap on Reeeeeally tight and stand it up in the dishwasher - the heat makes the sweets dissolve real fast - just dont let your mum find a smashed bottle of vodka in the dishwasher

140 hours to go.....xx

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
