How is it bollocks. You really arent proving your point by resorting to childish namecalling.

Iommi pretty much invented heavy metal. whether you like Black sabbath or H&H thats irrelevent, it doesnt change the facts.

And while I love Trent and his music, and think he is a true innovator, and great musician, he hasnt had as much an impact on music as Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell have.

In B4 - BUT BLACK SABBATH ARENT PLAYING ITS H&H WHO ARENT BLACK SABBATH.

Its just the renamed/reformation of the band, and it still has Iommi in it so it counts.

It's bollocks because NIN are one of the great innovators in music. It's bollocks because metal as a whole is a broad genre, that would have formed whether one band existed or not. It's bollocks because H&H are a small band that only have a degree of success because of their band members' former glories.

No. It isn't Black Sabbath because they aren't playing Sabbath songs. If they played War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man then it would be vaguely close, but still not Sabbath. Were Zwan the Smashing Pumpkins? Are Velvet Revolver GnR? Are the Raconteurs the White Stripes?

Right, except they are black sabbath. Hence why they released albums as black sabbath and toured as black sabbath originally with that lineup. It was only more recently that they decided to change the name to distance themselves from Ozzy era black sabbath - but like it or not they are essentially black sabbath,.

Sigh.... Seriously mate. Give it a rest. You are just making yourself look like an idiot. First of all drop the working for sonisphere comments, its starting to piss me off. Just because I happen to like the lineup, doesnt mean I'm working for Sonisphere. Because guess what! EVERYONES NOT YOU.

Are you so incredibly stupid, that you dont realise people have different musical tastes? And that you dont have to hate everything to be considered cool.

Whether H&H are shite, well thats an opinion. Many may agree, but many would also disagree, but your opinion isnt the only one that matters so stop acting like it. Seriously, what are you 12. You've just moaned non-stop for the past few months, making threats about selling your ticket, as if anyone really cares.

you obviously do, because you keep defending your uncle stewart's shit lineup.

please show me the "quality not quantity" shown on the poster as it stands. there are 2 headliners - one (metallica) are not exactly strangers to these shores - granted a big draw, and LP who I actually dont mind, and have seen twice before - they put on a good show. NIN awesome, H&H dogshit - and below them (with a few minor exceptions) loads of small bands and "rebirth bands" without their original lineups. Its like a f**king tribute festival. there are more top class bands on 1 day at download than the entire weekend at soni.

before easter your uncle stewart (or is he your dad?) made a massive hoo haa about his awesomely huge announcement coming after easter - where he announced a 3rd stage (which we all knew about anyway) and later announced H&H and a few others.

yee f**king haa, this festival pwns. I bet download are shitting themselves.

Yeah, except they're not Black Sabbath. They've Acknowledged that themselves by changing their name. When they toured as Sabbath they played the classic Sabbath songs, now they don't. Ergo they're not really Sabbath. Ask them! I'm sure they'd tell you they're not Black Sabbath, They're Heaven and Hell! A band who the majority of people will not know a single song by! It's unbelievable that this is being argued, particularly considering their last tour was apparently a poor seller!

Again, your immature claims are just making you look like an idiot.

And again you spout out your own opinion like fact. and dont seem to realise that some people are happy with the lineup. personally I disagree about download, the majority of their lineup is filled with new bands and filler bands (in my opinion - which dont appeal to me). Whereas the majority of Sonisphere bands appeal to me, hence why I am excited, this doesnt mean I work for them just because I am looking forward to seeing most of the bands.

Basically I think the quality vs quantity is difficult to quantify as it is down to personal taste. However what i would say is, pretty much every band would fill a similar slot if they were playing r and l or dl. Infact quite a few bands have filled the same slots at said fests in the recent past.

I guess the question is, will the remaining bands be added at the bottom or towards the middle of the line up?

Whether a band is good or not is obviously a matter of taste, but spouting immature twattery like 'Heaven and Hell are shite, deal with it', is ridiculous and actually quite funny.

And for the record, if anyone does doubt their relevance or their status as Sabbath, I beg you to listen to the new album, it's the heaviest thing you'll hear this year.

Ha! So you've decided that they're irrelevant and past it and haven't even listened to the new album yet?! Pathetic, how can you expect anyone to take you seriously?

Given how ridiculously biased you'll be coming into it and the fact that you've cleary made your mind up anyway, I don't know if it's even worth your time to listen to it now. Oh, and also, I'm guessing by your piss-poor logic that you won't be bothering with Metallica either, seeing as they haven't released anything genuinly relevant or groundbreaking since the Black Album?

    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
