Saturday night in Berlin. Think that was my 8th time seeing them and probably the best. German sound systems, best in the world.

The venue, warmth of the sound, momentum and belief behind the new material, pacing of the setlist & performances of old reliables made this the best of my 8 Wilco gigs. I'd go as far as to say it was the best sounding gig of any I've seen. The soundy on the night deserves an award. Astonishing, really.

It was ten times better than the Roundhouse show two weeks ago. In retrospect they seemed ill at ease in that venue. In Berlin Tweedy was perfectly comfortable and "in the moment". Where that gig (bar the cameo from Nick Lowe) seemed downbeat and introspective - this was joyous. The "Misunderstood" gave me shivers all over. A brilliant show.
