Ticket Price

I'd rather be able to afford to go away once in a while and not have to miss out on the festival. As it is, I haven't been away for years because my funds all go on tickets!!! lol

Buy 3 years, get one free? Glasto loyalty card? Every three years a festival with no big bands - just a festival with lots of small stages? hehe

I actually quite like the idea of rewarding loyal fans. I doubt they could manage free, but maybe 25% off every fourth festival?

Where did you get the info on the ticket prices, by the way?

[Edit] Ignore that, I found them.

At risk of massively over-geeking the thread, here's what the ticket price rises are like in 2009 equivalent £s:

Dont know if anyone has metined this but the cost ot have a stall also goes into the GLF coffers as well. Obviously the money would go towards the cost of the utilities required and the infrastructure required. As some will require power points etc

I read once that a pitch for a burger van at the bulldog bash a much smaller festival was 3-400 pounds a day earlier in the decade. (This was in an article many years ago)

This would provide a large stream of revenue and the profits for being there must be worthwhile as so many return year on year.

this thread is making me smile.

first went in 81 ticket price £8 tickets bought from CND book shop at finsbury park. there was about 9-10 of us that went . as the years have gone by and the prices increased i have kept saying that when the price goes above X amount i would stop going..........! somehow though that has never happened.

8 of us going this year, only me and one other from 81. the other 6 are my daughter my mates son and 4 of there friends. still do a few other festivals each year but Glastonbury will always be head and shoulders above any other.

Perhaps GFL need to do some Quantitive Easing - printing tickets for people who haven't got any money, paid for by imaginary loans, with bands we just hope might play at prices that are falling.

the price is getting a bit top high, and does risk losing the 'roots' of the festival and forgetting and making it primarily middle class middle aged due to sheer cost

as said, it's not just the tickets, but prices on site go up each year too

considering the traders have to pay a lot for a stall & they have sponsors, i do believe the ticket price to bet a bit steep tbh

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
