Sorry if this has been covered but didn't see a thread on it yet.

Sonisphere website:

THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE: NOT TWO STAGES AT SONISPHERE! THERE ARE THREE INSTEAD!

Monday, April 20, 2009

We wanted to wait and roll out a whole lineup for the third stage as in a big sweeping announcement, but seeing as the sun made everyone doolally last weekend with unfounded rumours of only one stage, we thought that we might as well tell the world that we are doing exactly the opposite and will be an announcing a third stage instead.

This one will be undercover stage, will run later than the others, and we will get a chance to book our favourite breaking acts, some cutting edge stuff and a few wonderful surprises! What is going to go on it? Well you will have to wait and see. As it will take another couple of weeks before we have the whole thing finalised and ready to announce.

Yeah but it seems its potentially bigger than what we orignally thought. The annoucnement was more to sqaush rumours started at the Download Fan Forum thing from Livenation I think it was that Sonisphere was being reduced to a one stage fest.

It also means that people cant use the "Oh staggered stages suck cos when one bands on you dont like theres nothing to do " excuse. Because there will now be this stage - even if it is lesser known acts. And you get the benefit of the staggered stages too meaning the main bands dont have any clashes.

I read that last bit to be that they wanted to announce the third stage as one big announcement with the line-up as well, but they'd rather quash the rumours about there being only one stage than delay it until they could make it all together.

I'm still expecting there to be a big announcement at some point this week (hopefully today).

TBH I'm not too bothered about this 3rd stage. It says about cutting edge music which means it'll all be new bands which im not too fussed about, and I'm happy with the main stage at the mo, so any future announcements are just a bonus for me :D

    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
