Possibly my favourite band of all time, so i thought i should start a thread to show them some love!

One of the best live bands ive ever seen in my life, anyone who managed to catch them on last years tour would undoubtedly agree with me!

Anyone think they'll be on the mainstage again? I personally think they could be high up on the second stage. Any thoughts on a possible set list are also welcome! im putting mine together as we speak! :D

As long as i hear Lifer (which is a given), Stone the Crow and On March the Saints i'm a happy man

I havent had chance to see them live yet, missed them when they surprise slotted download

Consider Down appreciated!

Do they do any Pantera tracks like Damage Plan used too?

Nah ive seen them twice before now and they haven't covered any pantera tracks, no matter how much i pray for them!!

Sometimes they like to give a little teaser, like play the opening riff to 5 minutes alone. But bar that, no full cover

Awesome addition to the line-up, and after they were announced for Bonnaroo I never expected them at Download.

Saw them in 2006 when they were the 'surprise' act (if you missed the t-shirts on sale on the Friday night, the badly hidden stage banner, and Kirk Windstein and Rex Brown walking across the stage and waving to the crowd!). When the lumbering intro of 'Lysergik Funeral Procession' flowed into that riff, Down had truly arrived and I was rocking out for the entirety of the set. They were one of the best bands of 2006 and will surely be one of the best of 2009.

Personally I hope they clash with Pendulum, but I'm not holding my breath!

I loved Pantera and never saw them and was gutted, I still listen to them now, 101% proof live album f**king rules, I knew that Down existed but I've never really checked them out, so I just have, and damn the spirit llives on!

I'll be definatly watching them at Download

looking through the 3 albums its obviously an impossible task thinking what you'd want as the set-list, but think this would be a fantastic mix:

Temptation's Wings

There's Something On My Side

The Seed

Beautifully Depressed

Hail The Leaf

On March The Saints

Pillars Of Eternity

N.O.D

I Scream

Jail

Landing On The Mountains Of Meggido

(encore)

Stone The Crow

What are the most accessable tracks for a Down noob? Got their albums on my ipod but not really given them a listen. Sure I'll probably enjoy them, just need to know where to start.

Right, for anyone whose a first time listener to Down, here are a few tracks that i think you should listen to:

If you just want to rock out with your c*ck out, check out:

- Lifer - Down Nola

- 3 Suns and 1 Star - Down 3 Over The Under

- N.O.D - Down 3 Over The Under

- On March The Saints - Down 3 Over The Under

- New Orleans Is A Dying Whore - Down 2 A Bustle In Your Hegerow

- Bury Me In Smoke - Down Nola

- Temptations Wings - Down Nola

If your after something a bit more melodic, crack out:

- Stone The Crow - Down Nola

- Jail - Down Nola

- Pray for Locust - Down Nola

- Learn From My Mistakes (This is one of my favourite songs ever!) Down 2 A Bustle In your Hegerow

- Where I'm Going - Down 2 A Bustle In Your Hegerow

- Never Try - Down 3 Over The Under

But seriously, go out and buy everything they've done, because its simply awesome :)

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
