Camping Madness

Here's a starter. This aerial is from the relatively dry and lovely 2008. And yet, OMG.

I saw this island first in 2005, post rain decimation. I tried to work out just how anyone could have camped there. But it must happen. I've seen late arrivals, with the challenge of dark and a full site, trying to pitch directly over a drainage ditch

Post your nightmares here... words are fine if you don't have photos :P

My tent is in this picture. I camped just by the large lot of trees on right of the picture.

By the monday those tents were half submerged by mud and basically just being so close to john peel tent that everyone just walked thorugh them all weekend.

Im currently contemplating where to camp this year with my group, looking at the maps i want to be in the mix but close, a good place. (so near the other stage, park stage and pyramid...in that area) Can anyone give any recommendations? Or more accurately, recommendations on where generally is a horrible place to camp (i.e. v likely to become mud haven). (this is our first glasto, we would like to enjoy it!)

the site is situated in a valley with the north and south ends on the hills and the middle is the valley floor. if anywhere will flood it will be there, or just to the south of the old railway embankment - although a lot of money has been spent on drainage there so you don't get the problems of yesteryear.

i'd recommend pennard hill or somewhere around there - close to the park and other stages, and close enough to the main thoroughfares that you can be at the pyramid (relatively) quickly.

Cheers;

the noise and popularity of the spots isnt a worry for me. We'll be in glastonbury area on the tuesday as we have a mate who lives in the area, (with a mansion with swimming pool, sauna and about 50 bedrooms...i expect you to think highly of us for still camping) so we should be able to pick our spot and be there pretty sharpish. Plus there's only 2-3 tents, so we'll hardly be marking out a massive area. And as we are all 20-21, we're absolutely fine with loud noises.

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
