I think Springsteen is one of the highest regarded lyricists in history...no ones said hes the best, just hes up there. By highest regarded? I mean the guardian placed Springsteen in the top 5 last year, the bbc produced a show dedicated to his lyrical quality.

Your opinion is different, fair enough. Just try not to present objective opinion as fact.

Your putting things in perspective by telling us that some nobody (you) has a different opinion and thinks Nick Cave is a much better lyricist and we should all start to follow that opinion.

"im not crazy, its everyone else thats nuts"

Find me the quote...go on...where it says bruce springsteen is definitely the best lyricist in the world without question and that anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

Because the only reference i can find to a definitive view on lyrical quality is from you, when you say Springsteen definitely isnt the best lyricist and that thats a fact.

I'm sure I've read people write that previously, if not in this one then in one of the other twenty Bruce threads that have been created ad nauseam.

It was decided that he didn't write "Like and a Rolling Stone" and as such wasn't Bob Dylan and therefore couldn't be the greatest songwriter.

I've just got this email from Glasto perennial camping supplier favourites Millets ....

In keeping with the general theme of the festival this year and specifically inspired by the much mooted Saturday night slot by Bruce Springsteen, Millets, the nationwide camping equipment supplier, will be returning to Glatonbury with a special range of new items for 2009.

Got some of this stuff myself.

"Prove it all Night" multi packs of viagra.

"Lost in the Flood" rubber dinghys.

"Tunnel of Love" lubrication.

....and my personal favourite

Clarence "Big Man" Clemons condoms. Thay have a picture of the Clarence and have a golden sax on the tip. Feel free to shout "DO I HAVE TO SAY HIS NAME?" before putting them on.

All for about 50 quid!

Its taken me three days to plough my way through this.

These are my opinions:-

1)2.5h is too long a set for one artist - regardless of stature.

2) Some people love BS a little too much.

3) You will never win an argument on eFestivals.

An intertesting (or not) side note is that I am as big a fan of Neil Young, as some of the people on here are of BS. And I for one would not want NY bigged up as much as BS has been. This is because i know, no matter how much I love NY, I know i could never convince people of the same.

Music is subjective.

a Bruce performance is not ALL about the songs...

of course, this might go a long way to explaining why you're not that big a fan...??

I think two and a half hours it too much for anyone. This has put me off the idea a bit, I'm not a massive fan but thought I'd watch to see what the fuss is all about, but a two and a half hour set is too much.

I know what the seemingly obvious answer is- only watch some of the set, but I dont think that gives a full account of someone, and there's no guarentee I'll see the songs I'd like to the most.

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
