NME Headliners

We seem to have not talked much about who is going to be the NME tent headliners this year (mainly as we haven't even managed to find out the 3 main headliners yet)

But hey, who do we think its going to be?

I think we may see the Streets headline one with maybe Hadouken! and Le sac vs Pip underneath

and to be honest I haven't a clue for the other 2 days

As I said in another thread, I think Placebo would be awesome.

Aside from that I would go along with Weezer being about the right size.

The Hives are probably too small now, but could slot in underneath someone Weezer sized.

Pendulum could do it easily.

Silversun Pickups have a new album I believe - are they getting big enough over here? Or are they still FR tent sized...

Theres a few possibly unreasonable and unrealistic, but cool, guesses

I think the closest you're going to get to your wish is Mani and IB playing Roses songs together. They did it a few years ago, could happen - I wouldn't hold your breath on a full scale reuinion, although we all want it.

I don't know why everyone wants Ian Brown to headline the tent - yeah he's great- but I'm a fan of his work and even I can admit his voice is shite. What keeps people going to see him is his history. Personally, I've never forgiven since he spat on that fan - dispicable.

My predictions:

FRIDAY: Glasvegas

SATURDAY: Justice

SUNDAY: The Cure - more a hope than prediction.

I agree - A lot of people would want to see him for his Roses classics, myself included although he has held his own with his solo stuff in regard to quality of his songs.

It's like how people go to Manics gigs looking forward to the Richey-era stuff. People see Morrissey for the Smiths classics. And I'm sure a lot of people on here who saw the Pumpkins in 07 were wanting the songs off Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie more than anything.

I don't doubt the quality of Ian Brown's solo work, but it must be said, in comparison to his Roses work it's completely overwhelmed. But his solo work shouldn't be compared - because it's completely different. I admit, it's great when he plays the Roses songs in his set - everyone goes nutty etc... But I much prefer to hear him do his solo work - he seems to put more effort into that.

I also completely disagree with your comments on the Manics and Morrissey - I believe that people go to see the Manics for the entire catalogue, not just the Richey-era stuff, and that the majority of people who attend Morrissey gigs only want to hear his solo-work - you just have to ask 'Uncle Liam' on his feelings of that.

i'd have a guess at stereophonics, glasvegas and someone heavier to counter the inevitable lack of heavieness on the main stage...

not sure who that'd be tho!

dare i suggest someone like Machine Head? (They're headlining Wacken this year and while I appreciate thats a metal fest they're still a big cult band...)

Ok, thats not going to happen, but its a GOOD idea! :O
