True enough, and it still looks like it's 50/50 whether we are going to see a mudbath which aint too bad odds!

The last few Glasto's have seen a mixture of washed out mayhem with heavy rain causing flooded tents and slippery mud and basking sunshine. So what will this year be like?

BBC West weatherman Richard Angwin takes an advance look at the prospects for Glastonbury 2009:

With the start of the Glastonbury Festival now nearly upon us, the weather picture is becoming clearer, at least for the first few days. One thing is certain, Glastonbury 2009 will be the warmest and sunniest for quite a few years. Unfortunately, by the weekend things could change and the traditional mud bath is a slim, but very real, possibility.

For the next few days it will remain dry and bright with temperatures perhaps as a high as 23 degrees by the time the first festival goers start to pitch their tents. (The ground could be quite dry and dusty.)

Wednesday and Thursday will be warm and dry with light winds and plenty of sunshine, so a good sunscreen and plenty of water and strongly recommended. Friday could well remain dry and quite sunny with temperatures in the low twenties but there could be a few heavy showers around Worthy Farm during the late afternoon and evening.

Although much of the weekend will also be dry, warm and fairly sunny the risk of isolated, slow-moving thunderstorms will increase. The risk of one occurring over Pilton is probably about 40%, high enough to make wellies and waterproofs worth taking even if they hopefully spend the whole festival taking up useful room in the corner of your tent.

Over the next 24 hours we will try to pinpoint the shower risk with a bit more precision and confidence but the general outlook for this year still looks very encouraging.

And we'll update this feature throughout the week with all the latest forecasts

Can't cope with metcheck changing all the time....

What is 1.2mm of rain anyway..... is that 1.2mm standing on the ground, or 1.2mm in a certain sized dish on the ground over an our. Would 1.2mm of rain create 1.2mm mud.... I think this weather stress is getting to me.

tbh, when you have a lot of festivals under your belt - it *does* become a lot of effort when the weather is ****. 3-4 Glastos in I'd happily get wasted through the weather - now it becomes more hastle than fun esp I now go with the Wife and so remain mostly 'unaltered' for the duration.

V 05... roasting hot every day...

v 06....pissed it down every day

G 07...pissed it down every day

G 08...rain Thursday night / Friday morning... lovely sunshine for the rest...

I dread the rain but I know I will be having a top time still.... If it gets to the point where you think its going to be more hassle than fun and considering its more likely to rain than not I would be thinking if its really worth going.

I needed the sun in 08, if it had rain for a fourth consecutive festival I think I might of thought wise about going. The hot ones do revitalise you I find

I think what does it is when you do remember the good ones (2003 being the most recent overall good one), and know how amazing it is to lounge around on the grass where you want. It's so much more chilled out.

I really, really hope we don't get a mudbath. At least when it's been forecasted that it's going to be shit beforehand you can prepare for it, but I've been looking forward to decent weather with the reports I've been reading.

It's the poor buggers with pushchairs that I feel sorry for the most when it's muddy. I'm on crutches this year and not looking forward to that in the mud. COME ON THE SUN!

Does anyone know the amounts of rain that have fallen in previous years to make the site muddy. How much rain do we need to make it a mudbath because although it rainewd last year it seemed to dry up
