I've done Glasto in sunshine and in heavy rain and the current forecast is ^_^^_^;);):)

I'll take a dry one any year

So the summary of the weather predictions is...

Long range forecast: terrible

Mid range forecast: fantastic

Short range forecast: fairly good

Reality....?! ^_^

I'd say we're at the right end of the spectrum. When sites like Metcheck predict less than 1mm of rain it means no rain at all.

It's all good peeps ^_^

again the 06z is a good run and pretty much keeps the entire festival dry with temps around 23-26 degrees. There are some v.light showers showing saturday but nothing to concerning. There is a low close though in france and there is no certainly that it will stay there

I am hoping the ensembles will show agreement for this run

Haha I've been off work for a week and a half already and tbh I tend to completely block out anything work related the moment I'm away from the place :D I'll be giving one or two of the forecasters a shout in the next day or two though to get the latest.

been watching this thread obsessively over the past week, feeling everyone's highs and lows (no pun intended...)

just for people's interest, there's a week ahead to friday forecast on the country tracks programme here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00k4l44 (skip ahead to about 50 minutes in)

ominous low sweeping in on thursday but narrowly avoids somerset, then that lovely high comes in from friday! we'll know more later... :)

UK Outlook for Friday 26 Jun 2009 to Sunday 5 Jul 2009:

Through to the middle of next week the weather is expected to be largely fine and warm. Though there is the increasing threat of some heavy showers and thunderstorms. Especially over central and southern parts of the UK away from the East coast where there will be an onshore wind. The afternoon temperatures away from these eastern coastal areas are expected to be either warm or very warm, but perhaps even hot in places. Then as we move towards the middle of the second week the current indications are that the weather will turn more unsettled and less warm. Cloudier conditions with either showers or more prolonged rain are expected to spread to many areas at times. However, there are also likely to be some brighter periods mixed in.

Metcheck is looking extraordinary at the moment!

EDIT: If you do the single day forecasts that is. I think this uses the 7 day model instead. Which I actually think is the more reliable one, not just because it is predicting wall to wall scorchio!

:)

    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
