WEATHER 2009 !

I haven't read so much rubbish in my life, The weather on the TV can only predict weather 2/3 days in advance... All your doing is reading information off sources... the information you give to people is unrealible and there is no facts with weather forcasting, the winds could change direction almost instantly.

However, if you can give factual weather forcasts months before an event, i suggest you give the BBC a phonecall.

I partly agree with the Radiohead guy, rain while you're in your tent is great. Very therapeutic and makes things all cosy.

But the moment I step outside my tent I want wall-to-fecking-wall sunshine and not even a speck of mud for the entire weekend. The early and late evenings in particular are so beautiful at Glasto when its sunny and warm.

A question for the weather geeks on here - if it gets proper warm in a week, say over 25C, which some forecasters seem to be suggesting could happen, is there not a higher chance of there being a biblical rain storm a la 2005? We don't want it too hot then do we?

Hmmm, i find radiohead extremely uplifting actually, i suggest you listen to their music. I'm still a bit confused with the whole band/weather situation.. rain is what keeps us alive! helps forest fires, it helps us save on watering our plants and trees, helps wash our cars, cools certain areas down temp wise. gives water to wild life.

DON'T DISS RAIN, IT ROCKS!

Straight off page one of the Troll Manual, this style. Take note, Peevis and everyone! The above is not a 'difference of opinion', it's a deliberately inflammatory shitstir attempt. Note I said attempt.

Note

A. The subtle, only partial distortion of some of what I've said

B. The deliberate ignoral of my frequent urgings for caution and of my frequent reminders that conditions can change, even late on

C. Deliberate albeit slight exaggeration of the always contentious 'forecasts are bollox' notion.

D. Accusation that I'm distorting

E. Dismisal of my reading of sources, even the health-warning laden readings I've been doing since May -- health warnings ignored of course.

We've got a live one here folks.

This one is fair comment as it goes. Some people (weirdly!) prefer rain and mud. Even they are having to agree that rainlovers may and probably will have to take a dry sunny one for the team** this year.

**the overwhelming majority too!

There's a fair bit of a line line between

A. just expressing a rain preference or rain indifference,

and

B. claiming that someone (me) posting links to forecasts is being misleading though.

i also like rain :-)

glasto 1997 was a defining moment. after a grand total of 45 mins sleep with the wind ripping a hole in the tent at The Oaks campsite near glasto on the wednesday night, and while trudging through miles of deep mud and flood over that weekend, i thought, hah, thees eeez the life :-) Tiz true!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
