  1. As a ticketless regular I’m properly gutted that I have missed out, it’s been hard to look in here, even though I miss this place so much.

Its even harder to know there are those who have booked worthy view and other off site camping who wouldn’t go unless that option was available, I’m guessing that’s where @Superscally attitude is coming from, I feel his pain even though he is being a bit of a prick trying to express how he feels, sorry for saying that as I know you are a lovely human.
I accept that Glastonbury is for everyone, especially the non Glastonbury people, surely that’s the point.
I also know that those who regularly post here who are championing these options would still go if it wasn’t available, you know that’s the truth, I’m looking at you @Hugh Jass and @SwedgeAntilles
I truly feel that there’s a massive difference between convenience and being the kind of person who isn’t willing to go unless they have it easy.
I’m sure that Glastonbury isn’t about needing a shower or caring about what you look like it’s about forgetting about that crap and being yourself and if you can’t do that then I really don’t get why you are at any festival, let alone Glastonbury

Sorry for being a massive downer but it hurts to not have a ticket,  please don’t hate me.

I do miss @russycarps, he told it how it was, in a way that I just can’t express without sounding like a .......

This one is similar and quite a bit cheaper. I have a tent like it and it makes me want to die after carrying it from shed to car. Wishing you luck with getting it in.

some sad but not really unexpected news today ... no luck with my letter to Michael and Emily ... not sure they got to read it as I got a quite generic reply .... never mind it was a long shot anyway :) ... whos in for this radio 1 comp then ?

Sorry to hear that, was really hopeful for you.

I was going to attend this year but they took a break, this looks ideal for me also!

Regardless of whether I get tickets in the resale.

Me too, hoping it will be one of the good things to come from missing out on tickets.

Our idea of heaven, a wander through Glastonbury town, up to the Tor and climb to the top, sit in the sun up there and talk to the wide range of people you meet up there, back down and head to Pilton, walk the site observing the country code of course, a meal in the crown, back to Glastonbury, a few pints and finish off if still hungry, with fish and chips from Knights chippie!

Sounds lovely, staying in Glastonbury for a couple of nights next week and can’t wait to do all this.

We are going to give Bimble Badada Near Brighton a go next year.

I’m going for this too. Sure it will be brilliant, don’t know why I’ve never been before as it seems perfect for me.

Also thinking about booking Shambala,, tickets go on sale next week.

It’s funny that the years when you get a ticket, you have a few days of post-success buzz and then let it drift towards the back of your mind until the new year when the rumours really start developing... however this year when I don’t have one, I can’t stop thinking about the bloody place!

So I’ve registered with Oxfam and entered the ballot and pre-ordered the book and am keeping everything crossed to be lucky in early November. If not (most probably!) then a long winter awaits and we wait for the spring and the next chances...

This is happening to me too. Been having some crazy Glastonbury dreams. All involve me actually being in the festival so I’m taking it as a sign that I’m going to be there.

Have just crept back in to this site following our failure and am still making my way through this thread so sorry if it's been addressed already.  I have signed up to Oxfam and WaterAid volunteering but any more information from someone who's done it would be welcome.

Sorry to hear this, properly gutted for you, sadly I’m here this year too. Feeling hopeful for the resale and still undecided whether volunteering is a good idea, Glastonbury is party time for me and don’t know if I can face working.

  9. I can’t ever see myself not wanting to go but I’m sure Mr Charm wouldn’t bother if it wasn’t for me. He has been many more times than I have and think he would of stopped after 07.

edit oh dear I clearly didn’t read the thread title properly.

Thank you for the positivity here. My first year (I'm in my 30s) was 2019 and it changed my life -  like many of us, I do struggle with my mind sometimes but nothing serious. Glastonbury gave me 5 days of total freedom, clarity and peace; I've got tickets next year and I can't imagine a summer without it now. It's one of the greatest places in the world and do hope I'm now a 'festival type'...

That’s so lovely to hear, really glad it’s been such a positive experience for you, it’s important for the festival that newbies like you turn up and fall in love with the place, keeps it fresh, no one wants it full of veterans, would be weird.

It would be if that was what I was doing. I was merely referencing a  year when it found it a hard sell.

By this I mean merely people who have never shown an interest in any festival, camping or even live gigs as a concept, who all now want to go to Glastonbury specifically. It's become a phenonema that transcends people's usual modus operandi. If people think this statements a "load of shit" then don't moan if it ever turns in a hunter welly and tory fest.

People can go for whatever reason they like, and I make no comment on the validity of those reasons. Just that it now appeals to those who have never been interested in such an event. I still enjoy Glastonbury, so I still go.

BTW, I disagree with the poster above that it was just as hard to get tickets in the 2005 era. It was more difficult, in that you had to stay on the phone/net for hours, but If you did, you got them.

That’s just not true, plenty missed out, remember speaking to people who were there without their regular group.

There hasn't been a secret re-sale since 2016, think any hope of one of them is over.

Me too, been pretty agonising for people who’ve convinced themselves they were going to happen, hope everyone forgets about them for next year.

Why didn’t you want to do the resale?

The stress of it, especially the secret sales,  have really felt for everyone in previous years who didn’t make it, thought I couldn’t do that to myself but now it’s happened I really don’t care, just want to be there.

Been moping around since Sunday. Was adamant I wasn't going to bother trying in the resale due to the fear of being hurt again but I've finally pulled myself together & that Diana Ross announcement has helped me refocus my eyes right back on the prize

6 months to build my index muscles up for the big one in April - let's fucking have it!

I always said I would never try in the resales but the moment I failed I knew I had to have a go.  Will make other plans and book a couple of small festivals just in case the worst happens but feeling really positive, we can do this, wishing you lots of luck.

    She is 75....

It'll be fun. Paul Simon's voice was shot, Dolly didn't really sing, Kenny Rogers sang the same song 40 times really badly.... :)

Exactly this, Brian Wilsons voice wasn’t incredible but he’s still best thing I’ve ever seen at Glastonbury.

Really hope you have some luck with this, one year I met a couple who missed out and wrote a letter pleading to get in, it worked for them.

  17. This is exactly who I didn’t want to see  announced considering I’m ticketless, her music is the soundtrack of my childhood, amazing booking, going to be pretty special.

    Hi All

I do a lot of lurking rather than commenting on here I know! I have learnt a lot from yourselves so thanks for that! But I've seen a lot of mentions of secret sales before. How do they work? do you get a tip off and the seetickets Glastonbury page randomly becomes active again with tickets available? My success rate at trying to get tickets every year is very low so need all the help I can get!

Secret sales don’t seem to happen anymore, it’s the official resale only.

Thanks for all the recommendations @squirrelarmy @Divein @maelzoid! I was wondering what the Coleman ones were like haven't seen them mentioned as much as the  Quechua’s. Anything will be better than the oven we created this year, I think the only thing that saved us was most tents around us were double the height of ours so we were saved from the sun a bit longer. Had some lovely naps in the green fields in the shade this year though.

@Charm I took actually bought space blankets and left them at home! I also read some people complaining about the constant rustling noise so didn't want to risk angering our camp.

We camp in Pennards so anyone complaining about noise is a bit silly, maybe put them on the inside of your tent so no one knows it’s you.
