Also @Charm definitely still happy to team up on coaches but do feel free to accept someone else's offer if they come in first. We are dithering and don't want to get in the way of your plans!

Definitely up for this. I’m trying to secure a volunteer place but it seems unlikely. Still hoping for joy in the resale.

Are you trying Feststaff as well? Im usre they open 1st March??

I got an oxfam spot so i was quite lucky... ive still got a refresh plug in working on the site though to get 2 of my friends spots. You should keep trying Oxfam I got my friend a spot in May last year.

Probably will try for Festaff but Mr Charm isn’t too keen, so he won’t be trying, would prefer us to go together but will leave him behind if necessary.

I haven’t registered my interest to volunteer for shelter. Can I still apply when applications open next week? Thanks

Sorry but this was in the email I received.

If somebody signs up and isn't on our interest list, we'll refund them their £300 immediately. I hope you can understand this is to make the process fair for everyone.

they were the main reason I chose to try oxfam ..... Back issues being a problem.... im trying to work out the logistics trying in the bus sale too now having dismissed it .... so somehow ive got to get there and collect my car at some point ... either from nearby or home ...with it loaded up already .... yes im aware it doesnt help the green impacts of the festival ... hopefully someone will come up with some genius advice :)

You could park it in glastonbury town the night before and use the shuttle bus to go back for it. Guessing that someone from here with a regular ticket will order you a car parking sticker or I’m nearly sure they sell them on the gate, even though I’ve never seen anyone selling them.

Last year they closed applications after about 45 minutes. However I'm guessing it might be even faster this year.

There were no website crashes, it was a simple process. We had not totally decided that we were going to do it or not when the applications first went live, so we weren't that fast filling the forms out.

I put my application in about 20 minutes late, and was contacted the next day with news that I was successful. My partner put her application in after about 10 minutes after me, and was contacted 3 days later with the news she was unsuccessful.

It seemed like a big setback, but Festaff were in the end able to accommodate both of us, after somebody else dropped out.

Everybody has to do 1 shift on Wednesday and 1 shift on Thursday. These are the main arrival days and the bulk of the Festaff workload, so everybody mucks in. Only the 3rd and final shift is (usually) during the show days, but it will be extremely quiet, as Festaff deal with wristbanding first time arrivals.

Shifts are allocated on a first come first serve basis. The queue for shift allocation took hours last year, but this is because they take the time to make sure you end up with a shift pattern you are happy with. Even though the long queue was a pain, I was glad they did it this way, as I was able to negotiate shifts which I liked. You can skip queuing if you don't care which shifts you are given.

I really enjoyed my shifts with Festaff. The first 2 shifts were busy, so the time went by quick. And nothing can beat wristbanding people when they first arrive at the festival. Everyone is so excited to receive their wristband, so it's difficult to have a bad time doing it. The time it takes to slide the band on, and clamp it in place allows for some pleasant small talk with the punters.

Thanks for the info,  really appreciate it.

One ticket back in the pot for resale, my "friend"  doesn't like the line up??1?!?!?!?!?!

yes they have been before and know there are hundreds or maybe thousands to still be announced, some people eh?

I just hope it goes to someone who really wants it and appreciates it.

Great news for us resalers but your mate and others like them are properly strange.

So, Festaff charge you £15 for the pleasure of working 24 hours for them?

There's no charity link either - your work is just making money for a private company.  And you have to make money for the private company at a 'sister' event too?

    Plus no food allowance?

It's not for me, this one.

Agreed that it’s a bit shit but I’m pretty keen for a place with them as I’m guessing the main part of the shifts will be completed before the show days start.

  10. To anyone wondering about Festaff applications I’ve copied this from their site. Looks like you need to apply for another event to get in this year.

Invitations to apply will be sent out to those who qualify to apply. Invites are for named person only. You must select a sister event to partner your Glastonbury 2020 application. This must be chosen when you apply for Glastonbury.

Any places that are open to the public will go live on 1st March 2020.

Glastonbury have asked us to take a deposit of £240 in line with their own volunteer guidelines and ticket price. This deposit must be paid on application. The admin fee for this show to just £15 in line with all the other camping shows. £225 will be returned (after both Glastonbury and sister events are completed).

You will be required on site from around 5pm on Monday 22nd June until around 8pm on Sunday 28th June 2020. You will be required to work 3 x 8 hours shifts plus training/set up over 6 days these could be midnight – 8am, 8am – 4pm, and 4pm – midnight. These shifts will be on gate duties and you should get a couple of these out of the way before the main stage fires up!

NB. All those who have supported us at two events (Excluding APE of BST), or more, the previous summer will qualify for an invite and we will select successful candidates from there. If you are lucky enough to be successful this year and secure a spot at Glastonbury with us and complete your sister event also, you will receive an invite for 2021.

No cash/bond will be paid back at the event – any all refunds of bonds will be done electronically post event.

    ** IMPORTANT **
Linking your Glastonbury application with a sister event:
You must select a sister event to partner your 2020 Glastonbury application. You can link any other event on the Festaff calendar - except the BST Hyde Park or All Points East shows. Once a sister event is selected it cannot be swapped to another event.

Please read all this information carefully.

    * All applications must be linked with a sister event.
    * You must apply for both your chosen sister event & Glastonbury at the same time.
    * You must plan and make your own way to and from the events.
    * There is no food allowance at this event.
    * You will need to cancel or decline your offer 5 weeks or more before the first day you are required on site in order to receive a refund..
    * All deposits will be returned once Glastonbury AND the sister event have been completed. If the sister event is not completed, the deposit and admin fee for both events will be withheld.
    * IDs will be checked on arrival to site to concur with details held by Festaff.
    * ID must be a current passport, a full UK driving licence, or agreed ID with Festaff Management.
    * No ID, wrong ID, person not on list = no festival. No exceptions.
    * You must arrive on site between 2pm-7pm on Monday 22nd June. Free staff car park passes will be issued on arrival.
    * There will be a staff meeting on the evening of Monday 22nd June that all all staff must attend. Anyone not there for any reason or under the influence will be sent home immediately.
*All volunteer shifts will be allocated on site

Thanks for checking Charm. I definitely think it will be two per person based on that then as I can't see loads being returned.

Can’t see it either but if it turns out to be 4 and you haven’t already made plans would be happy to team up as we are both going from London.

  12. Thought I’d ask how many coach tix we can go for, reply below. Guessing that unless there are loads returned it will still be 2.

    Hi Charmaine,

Thanks for your email. Whilst we do not currently have this information for the 2020 Festival, in previous years it has only been possible to book up to 2 Coach + ticket packages in a transaction.

    Best Wishes,

    Glastonbury Festival

It doesn't hurt to have a back up - volunteering can't be one for me, so it's resale or bust. BUT we will get there!

it's good to know you're still about!!

No, I don't think so. It's just taking it's time to filter out. Remember though, you've got till June before they announce winners - so don't panic yet!

I hope the ciders served their purposes @crazyfool1 and @Big durbs

Also, @Charm are you coming back to the fold?

Hello lovely, I’m here and counting down the days til the resale.
Feeling pretty positive right now, signed up for Wateraid and will also be giving festaff a go, trying to get a back up plan together even though I’m sure I won’t need it.

  15. Just checking in and wanting to let you know that even though I haven’t been around I’m still thinking about you guys, just don’t want  to be a massive downer as I can’t pretend to be positive and it is making me feel worse to be here and see some of the threads, when I saw what have you done to get ready I actually cried, I know you guys don’t need to hear that so I’ve stayed alway.

    love you all.
