  1. After 3 years of missing out on tickets and not even getting a look at the booking page I upgraded my broadband speed. Got in straight away and tickets bought by 9:05.

Had other pages open too which also got through to the booking page.

I suspect this is what can let people down.

Got in during the resale too on my iPad.

Feeling really confident for this year.

Might be stupid but just got to believe I'm going to be there.

  2. Love Small World. Spend my late nights floating between there Lizard and Toad Hall. Green Futures has such an amazing atmosphere and music is always spot on. Real musical treats.

I caught Rodney Branigan and John Pointer in Toad Hall, one of many Glastonbury Moments. Really special.

  3. Chatted to loads of randoms, one of my favourite things to do at the festival.

The weirdest was a brief moment when stumbling out of Green Futures very late/early one morning and then had a sock puppet waved in front of me and the smiley owner asked me to name it, Jimmy Bobby-Sox just seemed right. Did freak me out a bit though was unsure who I was let alone a sock. Really happy crowd.

Also met a lovely family in unicorn masks that gave me a unicorn poop which had sticker underneath saying Glasturd2015. Loved that.

  4. Glastonbury is a shining example of how beautiful people can actually be and I feel more at home there than anywhere else.

    Its who I am.

Anyone who is lucky enough to experience that feeling is truly blessed.

As I have heard many times some go to Glastonbury others go to Avalon. It isn't a place its a state of being.

    That's the magic we experience.

  5. Maybe I have a romantic idea of what Glastonbury is. I don't see it as just a weekend away but a collective experience for people to be able to tap into something really beautiful. I always have a little joyful cry when I have settled into my camping spot. There's nothing like it. There are plenty of places like Dragon Field or where The Park and Arcadia are now located that people used to camp in but they have now been pushed out to other areas and I get the feeling that people are just fearful of Glastonbury becoming another arena type festival where there's no camping inside the fence. Which would be really sad and I just wouldn't want to go.

I don't really care where people are camping, everyone gets their Glastonbury experience based on what type of person they are anyway regardless of where they stay. I was originally replying to someone saying the festival was unsafe, which is isn't. I always think wouldn't it be wonderful if the whole world was like this. Unsafe is Hells Angels as security and people hanging around on corners with balaclavas and machetes. This is just not happening anymore.

efcfanwirral - I am old and unfit and could never make it up to Worthy View. Nearly died when going up to Strummervile this year. Don't think your parents would like you if you put them there. I go in only carrying my tent, pitch up, then go back for rest of my stuff later.

DeanoL- Over the years I have helped more young people having a tough time than anyone my own age.

  6. we are all in it together.WV is part of the festival, and owned by GF. some people want to camp there, some dont. and some really dont and hate the people that do for some reason.  others want to camp in Tangerine or elsewhere.  Whats the problem? we live in a capitalist society where people have choice.

the main site is as safe as anywhere in the world on the whole, apart from the fact that tent theft is a problem. its naive to suggest that people are "just out of it" and that because it hasnt happened to you then it hasnt happened, which is just plain condescing to those unfortunate to have it happen to them.

Last time I checked WV and Tangerine fields are outside the fence. Hate is a really strong word to use. Don't think anyone has suggested that. Seems that you don't like people thinking it's weird that anyone would want to camp outside the festival. I know camper vans are outside the fence too, but I am sure even they would prefer to be able to drive them onto the site like they used to.

  7. I always wondered why people on this forum complain so much about 2010, apart from this year all I have experienced is mud & rain or just cloudy weather, didn't get it. Who doesn't want wall to wall sun I thought, they must be mentalists. But now I understand how grim too much sun actually can be. Wednesday was pretty tough going in and being woken up too early drenched in sweat wasn't much fun either. All the poor burnt people too. Felt bad for them. Shows that preparation for all types of weather is so important when going to Glastonbury.

Don't think the rain was much of a problem this year. I noticed how the atmosphere changed. It's so much easier for some people to let themselves go when they are getting wet and splattered in a bit of mud. It's like they start to realise how they look is unimportant and can start being real.

Think I had an amazing time in 05 (camped in Pennards and had a river running through my tent) and 07 (when I realised that Hell isn't fire and brimstone but oozing, gloopy, sticky dripping mud). All a bit blurry though. Needed to get properly wasted to make it through but loved the Blitz spirit of those years. Shows what you are made of.

  8. the main site isnt safe throughout - note the thread about tent thefts.

Never felt urge to post on here before, but this step too far for me. Not safe. Total rubbish and really insulting to the festival. Maybe some years ago you could of said the festival wasn't safe but now it's probably safer than anywhere else in the rest of the country. Took my 18 year old daughter and her friends this year, hardly saw her but knew she was totally safe.

Tent thefts, I take many of these stories with a pinch of salt. I suspect most of these people have just lost their stuff when out of it. My daughter thought she had stuff stolen too, but she had just left it in our tent.

I think one of the reasons people take offence to those camping outside the festival is that there is a real sense of community at Glastonbury, which you just don't find at many other so called festivals, which in my opinion are just concerts in fields with camping. It's a magical place and it takes something away when we aren't all in it together. Especially in the mud bath years. It's not easy sometimes. That's the point. Hauling your stuff in. Suffering a bit even with whatever conditions the weather is throwing at us. We dig deep and find it in ourselves to have a good time anyway, and learn things about ourselves, and if you aren't prepared to do that then you have missed the most important thing about Glastonbury.
