  1. It was pretty mediocre I thought. Every once in a while it would peak my interest, but mostly just a fairly flat take on the already pretty oversaturated amnesia storyline.
  2. True, but I think if they’d have still been able to tour they could’ve possibly pulled it back. Although them choosing to take a break and disappear for the past two years post-flop probably wasn’t the best of ideas in hindsight.
  3. I think at this point it’s far more likely that they’ll end up in a position like Foals where they had a window where they probably could’ve topped Glastonbury but, for whatever reason, missed it and so will have to settle for sub or OS headliner. But that said, I wouldn’t be averse to them getting the top slot. Lord knows the pool of acts who could step up is getting thinner, especially when it comes to bands, so would be a bit of a shame if circumstances out of their own hands ended up completely fucking their chances at it. They seemed like absolute certainties for a couple of years there.
  4. I don’t think he was ever in contention to headline Glastonbury, even when he was at his ‘peak’. These kinds of acts come and go so frequently and the people who largely call themselves fans are quick to move on to the next one once the spotlight has faded some. Sheeran barely left the spotlight and made himself an ever present force, but I can’t see (m)any of the others bothering the top of the Glastonbury lineup, despite people on here often predicting it happening in the next couple of years.
  5. Tbh IOW probably isn’t a very good indicator these days considering the downturn they’ve taken. I kind of expected him to headline Parklife too, but he’s probably just happy to take any gigs he can get, especially when they’ve booked two fairly big headliners above him.
  6. Prince in 2014 and 2015. Coldplay and/or Chris Martin supergroup in 2015. McCartney in 2019. Granted, we usually have a good idea of who it is and Neil is often the one who gives us that info, but considering the state of the world still it’s not unreasonable to think that acts are still changing plans and possibly deciding to not tour at all when there’s so much uncertainty still. Fingers crossed that’s not the case though and that Glastonbury have managed to do what other festivals couldn’t and hold their nerve until Macca and Kendrick were happy to sign on.
  7. Eh, I really do believe that they were probably lined up for 2021, possibly rushing out a new album in the meantime after Notes landed with a thud, and that they would’ve been able to cling on to their festival headliner status a little longer. The pandemic well and truly fucked them in that respect and basically caught them off guard immediately after releasing a clunker. Although they were absolutely everywhere for a good few years there, it now seems kind of crazy to think of them as ever being that big. Fuck knows where they’re gonna land upon their return, but headlining Glastonbury it ain’t gonna be. Maybe they’d be happy enough pulling a Foals/Biffy and taking the sub slot.
  8. Bang average and uninspiring lineup from Parklife. Said it in the other thread, but I guess they’ve realised there’s no point booking all these cool exclusive live acts when they can just book the same ol’ DJs year in year out and people will be happy enough just getting off their nut to that.
  9. Yeah not very exciting is it. A few good names further down (Caroline Polachek for example) but mostly just basic DJs that seemingly play every year. Guess they’ve realised there’s no point booking a bunch of exciting live acts when the kids would rather just get off their tits to a bunch of house and techno.

  11. Pretty much a given these days isn’t it? Much like Wireless, people eat this kind of festival up, especially with it being in the middle of the city. Although they do often pull out some top tier (often frustratingly so) lineups.
  12. ‘I don’t like Billie Eilish. I like Kendrick’ basically.

    Like lose another £26k
  14. Same lineup both days, so no problems resolved concerning the insane schedule, clashes or price. Decided to join the queue for tickets earlier but, somewhat fortunately, no luck. The lineup is the thing of dreams for me but not sure going all the way to Vegas for it would be very wise. Ah so no main sale now that the presale has almost definitely sold out? Always thought it weird when they do that - I mean, was there any doubt that this shit was gonna sell out given the hype surrounding it? Both dates included. Fingers crossed they’re amending the 3 stage thing, although either way there are gonna be some tough decisions to be made.

There’s no way that’s how much they cost originally, but on the resale market I wouldn’t at all be surprised if people were awful enough to charge that much and others stupid enough to pay it.
  16. Seems like it was probably COVID, and he was apparently not vaccinated and a bit of an arsehole about masks, vaccines etc which is unfortunate to hear as this was possibly avoidable. He would do anything for love, but he wouldn’t get vaxxed, etc etc.
  17. Exactly why my mind went straight there 😅
  18. Low ticket sales? Breaking up? About to be cancelled? Or maybe just waiting until we’re totally out of the water, although a few postponements would’ve done the job on that I suppose…
  19. Damn straight. Never tire of seeing him absolutely sweating his arse off on stage in the music video for the title track. RIP big man.
  20. Maybe his album won’t be ready/released in time for Coachella and he doesn’t want to play a bunch of unreleased material? I guess him only having headlined three festivals ago could also be a factor. Or maybe he’s feeling more comfortable with the UK’s handle on COVID over ‘muricas. Just spitballing, but there are a few reasons why this might be the case.
  21. One poster saying they’ve heard Kendrick from a hopefully reliable source and another heard Macca from a hopefully reliable source. Nothing concrete, but something else on top of what Neil has heard at least which is more than we’ve had from any other direction about any other act.
  22. I mean, they could, but I think it’s more likely they’ll be on the actual lineup. They’ve not played in a good while so there’s no real reason for their performance to be a secret (unlike, say, Foals in ‘19 when it would’ve been too soon for them to sub again).
  23. I think the Secret Wars stuff is more speculation than actual rumours in that it’d be one of the only grand finale events they could do that could possibly top the infinity saga. I don’t know too much about it other than it seemingly includes every character and their multiverse counterparts which would be pretty insane. Guess we’ll find out in about eight years or so!
