Yeah this is brilliant. Maybe I’m remembering wrong but I thought she was giving up the Groiper moniker a couple of years back so great to hear new stuff from her and for it to be so lovely.

The new Every Time I Die album is incredible. Straight off the bat it’s an assault on your senses and doesn’t let up throughout. Swear these guys just get better and better with each release.

Gonna be honest; can’t say I was particularly excited about this one, or at least expecting too much from it, but it’s really taken me by surprise because this is excellent. Some real classic Lana stuff here and also a few moments that take you back on first listen. Can see why there was a lot of talk about Dealer because that one’s just incredible. Also a lot of classic Lana-isms throughout which I look forward to being memed in the coming weeks. Good stuff.

Goddamn is today stacked: Self Esteem’s album is sooo good. Catchy, witty, funny, equal parts bangers and off kilter pop. Deserves all the praise that’s getting piled on to it at the moment. Parquet Courts new’un is good although feels like there’s two very different vibes going on throughout - the standard rockers that we’ve heard before and then the Talking Heads influenced more electronic stuff, and I think I definitely prefer the latter stuff, with the former stuff (singles included) all sounding a little rehashed/heard it all before. Certainly not their best album, but good enough for now. Other shit for the day: Lana, Grouper, Every Time I Die, JPEGMAFIA, My Morning Jacket, Ross From Friends, Biffy, Hand Habits, probably a bunch of other shit #blessed

Yep. Been getting rave reviews across the board so far so I’m extra stoked for it. Been a fan of hers for a while so great to see her getting so much acclaim and hopefully recognition from this new release.

Mastodon is next week, although probably for the best as there’s already too much good shit coming out tomorrow.

Just a point that he’s set to headline that Day N Vegas festival next month which was advertised as him only playing old material so would be kind of odd for him to drop a new album before that but play nothing from it… unless the whole ‘playing stuff from old albums’ was some kind of ruse to put people off the scent. I’m fully not expecting a new album tomorrow, but will also be refreshing his Spotify page all through the day just in case.

Well his Spotify picture has changed, so seems like we’re definitely gonna be getting something soon, whether it be the album or just a single. Either way…. let’s get this shit, let’s get this shit, let’s get this shit, let’s get this shit. (This snippet sounds pretty fire)

I think they’ll just stack the undercard tbh. Had Beck supporting in 2015 with a bunch of other current indie favourites so I imagine it’ll be similar this time around.

They did it in 2015, albeit with tickets being given away for free/cheap close to the show iirc.

Are SHM outright headlining? I know that’s very much the direction Coachella is heading in, but still, seems like a shite headliner. Would’ve thought they’d be on another stage opposite one of the headliners.

Hope they’re still planning to call it Stampede of the Disco Elephants.

Been confirmed by another festival guy that Glastonbury is Billies only festival date next year so won’t be her.

Because I want to be like ‘holy shit this rocks’ rather than ‘yeah that’s them alright’.

I’m going in with an open mind because they’re one of my favourite bands, but can’t say any of the three Parquet Courts singles are getting me particularly excited about this new album, or at least I think they all sound a bit generic/heard this all before. Not that I’m expecting them to break the mould with each album, and that Plant Life song at least sounded different even if it is essentially a Talking Heads pastiche, but I’m getting bit of a on-autopilot vibe from the rest. Hope I’m proven wrong come Friday.

It may just be because I’ve had to hear it on the radio like five times a day at work, but that newest Weeknd song really does nothing for me. Got all the makings of an awesome 80’s synth banger but ultimately falls pretty flat. Didn’t crack the top 10 over here either so maybe I’m not alone in that sentiment. I think he’s do a good job of headlining though, especially with the more retro sound he’s adopted recently. Would lend itself to an impressive stage show I imagine. Still salty over him mysteriously disappearing from the lineup in 2013, although I’m gonna assume it’s because he decided he was above that slot/wanted more money as the festival grew nearer so bailed.

Do you always need to come at people with some snarky comment when they downplay an act you like? 😄 And you can’t go from one minute claiming this guy is a giant megastar who can sell out stadiums to the next claiming he needs two huge support acts to do so.

Does seem a little ambitious for him, here in the U.K. at least. He’s big but he’s not quite a bonafide megastar just yet. Given that he’a giving out refunds I can see him scrapping the multiple dates and just doing one stadium date instead.

Looks like both Leeds and Manchester are getting venue upgrades as well as more tickets go on sale for both on Wednesday at seetickets.
