  9. Liam Gallagher would be such a boring headliner. Not like I'm a huge fan whatsoever but I'd much rather Slipknot as they're a much more interesting booking.

  11. LibraLibra were not on the Castle stage before, not sure if they were on the line up however, but I was always missing the opening act on Castle Stage for Sunday. So I actually forgot about this this afternoon, so Im just setting about it now, checked over Common and Castle stage and i've virtually had to change nothing. Bloc Party get an extra 15 minutes compared to Paloma Faith in that slot last year. Rest of the Saturday and Sunday are unchanged. I'll set about everything else now. But Common and Castle times are correct if you want to check overlaps anyone.

  15. Ive had a couple of instances of bad news over the last couple of weeks that has made me more determined than ever to keep going whilst I can ... the son of someone I work with died in a motorbike accident, he worked at Asda a few years ago and whilst I didn't know him as a friend it was someone I spoke to and he was only 27 ... and someone else I worked with I found out today had committed suicide ... its brought some perspective into my life to make the most of those valuable times of enjoyment and Glastonbury is definitely one of them ... It is also time to start introducing some new things also that will be things to look forward to in harder times as life isn't always quite so rosey

  16. Brass Against moved to the empty Club stage spot from the early Marquee slot, which is shite and a very Pukkelpop thing to do.

  17. Pulp were incredible that year! But I think you're being harsh on the rest of the bill, I think I volunteered that year but there's still a lot I'd see now. And it's about 10,000 times better than last last couple of Reading lineups (notably this years).

  22. You’ve cherry picked the festivals they haven’t played. Boardmasters has a higher capacity than most of those. And who says they won’t return to Reading and Leeds as a headliner? This summer was the first summer of the first album since - it’d be entirely unusual for them to return there already. I don’t see any connection between this and my post that you quoted. I’m not sinking another 10,000 posts into another Foals headline argument. All I am wanting to say is that they’re clearly in the conversation and some people are doing the most to dismiss them. People out there in the world don’t see much difference whether The 1975 are given the gig or whether Foals are given the gig, because they don’t paw over CD sales and venue sizes. If y’all don’t think it’s coming then fine but chill.

  27. Perhaps if you'd provided this handy key with your first post the confusion would have been avoided. I assumed we were both using the actual definition of the word current, rather than in the context you have now provided with this handy key. Past or previous were perhaps the more accurate words you were looking for to describe what you meant. i.e. 'of the past or previous headliners only 12 could still headline again in the future.' Anyway, glad we cleared that up.

  30. This wouldn't surprise me at all. I think the line-up was particularly strong for the price. The pit for Foals was incredibly hard work due to crowding. I think the festival could handle the numbers, queues for bars and toilets were never really an issue, but they do need to move the sound tower back a bit.

  35. Went for the first time this year and had a great time! I've done Reading quite a few times and the general atmosphere and crowd at Truck was so much nicer. I'd agree that Zodiac wasn't really worth it - hour long shower queues, toilets could still be pretty gross and although it was more spacious than general camping it wasn't massively so. Was also the furthest away from the shuttle bus. The only real issues I noticed were with security and general organisation. The crowd was surging back during Nothing But Thieves so people were getting crushed with their backs to the barrier at the sound desk. It was really dangerous, loads of people on the floor crying, children caught up in it all and no staff in sight to help anyone or monitor the crowd. Hope they keep more of an eye out next year as it really was awful. Took 4 hours just to get on the shuttle bus to Didcot Parkway so next year we'd definitely drive! All in all it was a lovely weekend and I'm excited to see who's there next year. Hope everyone had a great time!

  36. Yep - until I lost my hearing in one ear Sunday morning!!! Thankfully nothing serious, just constant earplug use (we do 12 or more festivals a year) had slowly pushed wax down my ear canal til it blocked up overnight. Lesson learnt after having to come away on Sunday. Zodiac not worth the upgrade money though - no cat swinging room, only 3 sit down loos for men for the entire area and car park further away than general camping! Another lesson learnt.

  37. This is actually not true, I am a fan of Sziget, I just dislike how they carried the festival out this edition, because this is a cheesy management for a festival like Sziget: Broken Social Scene is not a super-cheap act usually, and this year they don't have many shows booked in the festival circuit, so there are reasons to believe that Sziget had the funding to find another band; moreover, in the past years they made last-minute replacements that were more relevant than this one (Clean Bandit - Rita Ora in '17's edition, i.e.): if they wanted they could have make a last-min replacement, because they proved they can. So yeah, I am not happy about this choice; does paying 160 € for two days and having one band I had in the list cut right off with no replacement makes me a misery guts? I don't know, mate, I'm sorry to kill the vibe, but I'm just pointing out a fact (which of course you could not care about), that tags along with the removal of the parties (which was free merchandising and good time), the cut off in the timeslots of some performances, et cetera. I also listed the reasons why I have this consideration, it's not like I'm coming throwing poo on the forum like people used to do to the now-almost-gone SzigetNews: last year I was quite amazed by how they got back from the mess they made in '17 and I found the management in 14-16 years pretty good (few flaws, but who has not). Hope this makes a point in my perspective: I don't like to be the party buster of the forum, but if we are here only to try re-selling tickets or rejoice randomly with no attempt to create a discussion whatsoever, what is the point of the community itself?

  39. But none of them are being even vaguely realistic. We've spend 3 years now digging into this and discovering that it's very complicated. This is okay. For Brexit to really work we probably need a 5-7 year transition period. Then it wouldn't have to be a disaster, businesses could prepare and plan and transition relatively smoothly. You could even make "no deal" work with that amount of time to prep - rebuilding the massive customs infrastructure we would need in the South-East. Weirdly that would create huge amounts of employment and massively regenerate that area. I don't want to leave, but if you put me in charge of Brexit, that's how I would do it. And those people moaning that it's not quick enough can fuck off. It takes as long as it takes. You have to a put a deposit down on Glasto tickets 9 months in advance yet Boris thinks he can solve Brexit and get the UK prepped for it in three. Yet there's not a single leaver espousing that way of doing Brexit. Of doing it sensibly, in a way that takes longer but doesn't break out economy. It's all "out now" and such. And I know you're not meant to say all Leavers are idiots, but honestly when not a single one of them is even suggesting a sensible approach you have to wonder. The other thing is, the media need to start calling out politicians that are "opposed to the backstop". What that means is "we want to keep a hard border in Ireland on the negotiating table". That's literally what it means. All the backstop is is an agreement that if we can't figure out another way of avoiding a hard border in Ireland, then we revert to a Customs Union until we can. Notably, Boris has declared he is opposed not just to that backstop, but "any backstop" - so essentially any mechanic that says "if we can't avoid a hard border in Ireland we do X". All that can mean is that he wants the threat of that as a negotiating tool. Which actually, is fine. Ruthless, heartless, but understandable. But the media won't even hold him to account for it

  46. Ben Howard headlining the Park would be cool. Preferably against a meat and potatoes Pyramid headliner, so the atmosphere isn’t dragged down by normies expecting him to play Every Kingdom in full despite him having spent half a decade pretending that album never happened.
