Campervan fields - pitch capacity

HI,

I was under the understanding that if you camp in the camervan areas that you can have a friend in a tent on your pitch. Last year was my first in this area and I noticed that some campers had 3 or 4 tents around them!

How strict are the rules? does it depend how many people you can get on your pitch?

we are hoping ( if we get a ticket) to come next year with 2 lots of friends, one will have to camp with us as she has a small child and she just wouldn't feel safe on her own in the middle of the camping fields but then that leave my other mates having to camp on their own somewhere..

anyone got any experience with this?

We had four tents,a trailer tent and awning wit us last year and no one minded,the neighbours had tents too infact you couldn't tell what plot finished where.

The stewards main concern was keeping the fire lanes clear as long as you don't have too many tents you'll be fine

As your experience tells, they are not that strict. The reasons for limiting tents is to prevent the possible spread of fire from one vehicle to another.

4 tents to 1 van is excessive in my opinion. Although at Glasto, no one will ever complain, it's not the focus or the spirit. But neither is selfishly breaking their rules.

It's also about keeping within the recommended pitch area 7m x 8m. In theory tents cannot be pitched between caravans (continguous fire risk) but can be in front or behind.

The main thing is to be sensible and reasonable and not to try taking advantage.
