good answer.

makes me think they should combine chemistry and geography in a Glasto GCSE.

q: bobby has necked 5 ecto beans and there is an area of low pressure in the english channel. should he get his gurn on in a dance tent or go and watch a band at the pyramid stage ?

i love everyone on this weather thread for their INTENSE worrying/optimism/scouring of meteorlogical data/random photos of ghostly children/links to insane estate agents websites/amusing GCSE questions! this is the greatest thread in the world! it deserves a big fat gong. give your thank you speeches to the appreciative lurking audience (ie folk like me....only my second post but have been unable to tear myself away for weeks!)

see you all in a field vvv soon! ;)

Lovely pink streaks in the clouds now. And the patches of blue sky are getting bigger and the clouds are getting wispier.

No idea as I'm not on site. In town we had less than 2 hours rain in total today and only about half an hour of that was seriously heavy. The ground in my garden has drained nicely but that hasn't had thousands of people walking over it. My daughter is going on site tomorrow afternoon so if anyone is still left reading this thread then I'll post some info.

Weather! Init crazy? We are only 25 mins away and all we had today was not very heavy rain at about 7. Lasted for 15 mins and then clear skies till dark. Gives me fake optimism as it appeared there was 2 hours of rain in Pilton, only 24ish miles down the road. Well, fukit! You never know, it might just turn out not so bad. See yous tomorrow... ;)

I'm currently in Worcester Travel Lodge, 70 miles away, and it's a beautiful morning. Clear blue skies overhead, with some dark, but not too threatening cloud in the middle distanced.

Leaving to finish the journey off in an hour or so. If I get chance I'll post a site report by lunchtime. I think quite a bit of rain fell on worcester overnight, but not sure how this affected Pilton, but one thing seems clear - it's gonna be a lovely day folks. ;)

I'm about 15 miles away from Pilton. Going to leave at 7am. Currently quite a bright looking morning, but with ominous grey clouds in the sky. A little bit of a breeze too.

I think I shall wear my wellies and raincoat and pack my trainers.

bright and sunny in london - i guess it's going to be one of those glastonbury drives where it is all fine, stonehenge looks awesome, drive past castle cary, wonder why people in the bus queue are steaming gently, come over the brow of the hill and see...the biggest most concentrated black cloud in history just hovering over the festival site like an Independence Day alien ship.

"Come and say hello" say the up-held signs.

"Alright" says the rain.

My flight in last night was delayed by a couple of hours because heathrow grounded all planes due to the severity of the rain storm. The thunder heads to the west on the way from Jersey were pretty bloody impressive.

Thanks to all for this thread, see you on site, chat after !

For what it's worth the Accuweather gizmo on my Firefox says it's currently 15C and partly sunny in Pilton. The icon for today says it will be ok this morning and that there will be an afternoon thunderstorm. Which should coincide nicely with putting up the tent!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
