Volunteering - Bar Staf

Recommended Posts

Hey EOTR folks 👋

This incredible looking festival has been on my hit list for a few years now, but annual leave constraints and not wanting to miss any of my favourite “regulars” have got in the way. I did Green Man for the first time last year, planning it as a one off and then to try EOTR this year, but absolutely fell in love and there’s no way I can miss it now!

Fortune is on my side, however, and it looks like I may now have some additional unexpected leave, so it’s back on the radar. I do a few festivals as a punter, but also enjoy working a few each year too (can you see why there’s an A/L issue? 🙈) and noticed on the website it looks like they’re still taking applications for bar staff. Seems a pretty good deal with only 3 x 5hr shifts required, just wondering whether anybody here has done this before and can share their experiences if so?

I volunteer on the bars at Beat Herder every year so a fair bit of recent experience, and find it a great way to meet new people and see a festival from another angle. Torn between going for the first time as a punter to really experience it, and volunteering partly to save some of the cost but more because I’ve already got quite a few booked in and reckon by the end of the season I’ll not be wanting to party too hard, so having some work commitments will help reign me in. Plus it’s a fair old distance, with not great public transport from this far north, so I probably need to drive at least some of the way and therefore be fit to do so on the way home.

Any thoughts or experiences greatly appreciated! Thanks 😊

Did the Bar last year - it was great. Doing it again this year. You get to choose one early, one middle and one late shift from a timetable published early August, so you can organise it to make sure you see at least a few of your favourite acts - I got to see nearly everything I wanted to see last year.

Beautiful festival.

    • Seems the addition of the Sun Stage area is interesting. Suspect this is the area where the Stage 4 used to be pre-2024. Looks as though they want to try create some space to keep people in amongst the arena post-headliners, rather than just crowds all descending back on the campsite entertainment at once.
    • 2000 Trees - 3 Day Tickets on Concert for Carers to buy (pair £15) sure they will not have them for long, I cant check if they are still available as it now says I have already bought tickets.
    • times and technology has changed , a pyramid headliner is often about the show thats put on as much as the music like it or not and as much as many would like to you cant really blame an artist for trying to get the best out of the set both for the audience in the field and for the cameras also .... Beyonce was 15 years ago
