Coach ticket tips

Hi everyone,

I’ll be going to Glastonbury for the first time this year and my group all have coach tickets!

I was wondering whether people had any tips RE: coffee etc? We would prefer to not buy all our meals out to save some money.

can you get hot water at any kiosks? Do most campsites have a few food options? Is it worth bringing something that we can heat water for coffee/noodles etc? If so what would you recommend?

thanks in advance!

I have always taken a small 1 ring burner for hot water for coffee/washing/noodles.  I have a Trangia stove, which my dad gave to me for my 1st festival in 1988...and it had been going a few years by then!! So, hard wearing kit but not cheap.  You can pick up all sorts of other types from normal camping stores.

If you decide not to take a stove, then its never very far to a stall selling coffee.  Most campsites don't have food stalls, but Paines does, Oxlyers has millions of them as its where the Other Stage is -  not sure about facilities on the other side of the site.
Food is £10-£12 (last year) for a big main meal, breakfast rolls maybe £6-8 ish, can buy snacks and cheaper stuff in the greenfields - but thats a trek from the main stages.  There's also a Coop at the bottom of Park Home camping

I usually take cereal for breakfast, which I have with water.  Then buy food out for the rest of the day.

A small stove is worth taking to start your day with a cuppa. Queues are long for coffee in the morning and what you save on a couple of coffees will buy you lunch. Apparently there is still food for a fiver this year so you can take advantage of that.

Cold milk is easy to buy there, cereal is light to pack and a dense one will fill you up.

But you're missing out on some amazing food if you restrict yourself to noodles at the tent.

Hmm good point! Do you have any recommendations for small stoves? I’m cautious of overpacking since we have coach tickets (and want to reserve as much space as possible for drinks tbh)

I have this

 https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15903713/coleman-fyrestorm-pcs-stove-15903713.

Have had it a few years. I paid less than half price for it and it's been great. Its large but I don't need a separate pan for festivals.

The burner itself is tiny. I like the pot as it holds a litre of water and I can make filter coffee directly in it and just use a tea strainer to catch most of the grounds.

    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
