Won tickets.. Looking for Travel info

Hey everyone! Excited to have won two tickets to this year's festival, but with it being so late in the day our only option really is to drive all the way from the Scottish Borders. However it looks like all the car ferry tickets are gone already.

What would our best bet be? Park in Portsmouth or Southampton then go over as a foot passenger? Is there then plenty buses to the festival? Or do we need to book that too. Sorry for the noob questions! Hope someone can help.

Not been before, but we parking in Portsmouth, and will get Vectis buses about after the ferry. £30 weekend ticket, if Its just one journey  a taxi may be best, we are staying in Sandown so will be bussing it to Newport and walking in, then maybe a bus back. Depending on availability and time, if not then a taxi

Hell of a drive that! We’re driving from Aberdeen to Edinburgh then flying to Southampton then ferry by foot. Have looked you at the train?

What time ferry you getting across on the thursday? Want to get a decent camping spot but don't want to be stupidly early

We’re just going Sat & Sun, got a B&B in Shanklin.

I’m getting a 10am ferry Thursday as the site opens at 12. I’m assuming after queuing I should get in at around 1

heading down from glasgow with my eldest boy, did big green bus last year from manchester but flying down to luton this time then getting train from there. booked a caravan in shanklin for a wee change as well. loved it last year so hoping for the same, see you down the front for gerry cinnamon ?

Me and my mate won 2 tickets as well were doing Glasgow to Bristol flight Bristol to Southampton train then ferry over return. we should get a Scottish campsite few beers haha ! :-)

I won tickets as well. We are going Fri-Sun. Parking in Portsmouth and getting the ferry but staying in Shanklin.

Haha sounds like the Scots had all the luck in the competitions! 

Will definitely be down the front for gerry cinnamon, went to see him in Newcastle recently and won the tickets to this thanks to putting him as my favourite singer at the festival in strongbows competition!

There is two of us so we thought we would share the driving, but I'll double check the trains and that big green coach that was mentioned.

What's the best way of getting from the ferry port to the festival if we go over as foot passengers? 

Do we need to book a bus in advance or are there plenty available to jump on?

We are travelling to Ryde as foot passengers and there are regular buses to the festival from there (£7 one-way) and most other ports. Check out the Southern Vectis website for more info.

btw newport town centre is no too far a walk (or you can get a bus) so dont worry about bringing too much swally if going as foot passengers
