DC site services

Hi all. So after failing to get tickets in October and my friend dropping out of re-trying in April I decided to go it alone for this year and work it. Been going since 2007 and quite like the idea of seeing the fest from a different perspective, also figure I'll find it easier to meet new people if I'm working! Tried and missed out with oxfam, their spaces went in 15 minutes! So I've signed up with DC site services, does anyone have any experience with them? I looked for a Facebook staff group but can't see one, be nice to chat to some people before we go. Anyway, now I can start getting excited again, can't wait to be back in those fields! Also really looking forward to being onsite before the gates open, feel quite privileged to have that opportunity :)

I did work for Dick (Collins, I think) and DC back in the late 90s at Glastonbury, Reading, T and V - haven't had any contact for years but they were good people and the shifts tended to be fair with people swapping in and out for their must-see acts if shifts clashed. They also used to be involved with Janet's Cafe which did all the site catering. If that's still going, that was a great place to work - I always got early mornings or nights so I didn't miss anything and quite a lot of acts (Faithless, Gomez and Black Grape to name three) used to come and get food there. Whether any of that is still true, I have no idea. Hope that helps in someway.

That's great, thanks. Nice to hear they're a decent bunch to work for, I know they've been going a long time and their office is local to me so I knew who they were, just never spoken to anyone who had first hand experience. The shifts are mainly stewarding, don't think there was a catering option which is a shame but when the weather is glorious I'll prefer being outside!

they have their own forum  http://forum.dcsiteservices.com/

have never worked for them but I know they have been doing it for ages.

if you are onsite before the gates open your GFL Crew wrist band will get you to the interstage area { behind the Pyramid stage } so you can walk around and see what its like - once the gates open to the public access to that area is restricted.

Thanks for this! I'll keep an eye on the forum. Very excited about the opportunity to have a nose about before that area gets restricted. After 8 years as a punter I'm really looking forward to seeing behind the scenes, the infrastructure of an event this size fascinates me!

there is many areas that are open and lots of crew bars that allow access to other crews { before the gates open }

Big Warning - crew sites do move from year to year so just because it was there in previous years does not mean it will be in the same place this year.

In that forum they claim the crew camp was in pylon field { not to be confused with  Pylon Ground which is a public area } which is near Gate B and also close to the Medical Centre and the Police Control unit.

you may even have access to Goose Hall for meals but I cant be certain about that.

some images of Goose Hall http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/site-snaps-tipis-and-tattoos/

and a interesting write up about it http://www.foodservicefootprint.com/features-2/festival-fare

its claimed it has the best meals onsite but as the WBC has its own catering company I have never had a chance to find out.

Worked for them at Reading a few years back. Really hated it if I'm honest. I was situated in the most quiet campsite (and occasionally the car park) fire towers and was stuck with someone who I just didn't really gel with. The shifts I did were 8pm until 8am every night so most of my day was spent trying to stay awake for the music (and mostly failing).

However, what I will say is it's very well organised and the fact I got paid was a bonus (despite the money being late...!). The free food and arriving a day early was a bonus too. Try and make friends and fight for a good shift is my advice. However, it may be run totally different at Glasto! Good luck and enjoy :)
