Drop and Collect Queue

Evening all,

The past 2 years we've used the Drop and Collect shuttle bus as we charter our own private bus. We usually arrive at 9am and the queue is an absolute nightmare especially with all the gear we carry.

In peoples experience, what is usually the best time to arrive and what time does the bus service start? Obviously there isn't a 'best' time, was just curious to what time other people have arrived and what the queue has been like.

Cheers.

I got there around 11am in 2014 and it took 2 hours to get on the bus. The queue was about as long as when I joined it just before getting on the coach so it's probably just par for the course.

With a local base, I caught a taxi to the drop off point last year, and arrived at about 4:45am. There was a very small queue in front of me and I was on a bus within about ten minutes and on the site (Gate A queue) by about 5:20am. I was probably about twenty yards from the front of the queue. About 45 minutes later, the queue behind me stretched back further than I could see. If you're going to use a shuttle bus, I'd recommend aiming to get on site before 6am.

The shuttles run through the night on Tuesday. I've no idea what time the people at the very front of the queue arrived but they looked like they'd been there for a long time. It was all quite calm and peaceful until a coach load of pissed up people from a specific northern city showed up with their flavoured Strongbows.

In previous years you can get the bus to drop directly off at the festival, but it says on the website this has stopped? Will email head office to see what they say, does seem silly to have huge coach loads of people being dropped off at the drop off point.

So would you say it is worthwhile getting to the drop off point earlier and waiting for Gate A to open?

Cheers for all your replies btw!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
