First Timers

So, I (along with, I assume, several hundred others) am having my first Glastonbury this weekend.

Got to say, I've enjoyed my first two days so far! I've seen some cool shit (Arcadia Spider, Musical Bingo), I've seen some lame shit (mostly people who don't understand my Step Brothers quotes), and I have seen some weird shit (guys and gals vomiting into each other's mouths and Shangri La Hell).

So, I'm just making this thread for first timers to say what they're enjoying (or not), and for veterans to suggest things that we may have missed or are worth checking out!

I'm buzzing for Drenge and double Kaiser Chiefs tomorrow!

Something I do want to know, though.... Where are the most sociable places to go at night? Both nights, so far, I haven't been able to sleep, and I've gone on a 2 hour wander... Thinking the whole time that I might just get to a place where there's a bunch of people just sitting around talking to people they've never met... Instead, I just get people walking. everywhere I go... I never see anywhere where I can make new friends yet, and I've not had a decent chat with a stranger as of yet.

Glastonbury needs a speed dating style stand! Haha

Block 9 was immensely cool but so incredibly packed- David morales was a no no, that we just passed straight through. The park is a really nice area, looking forward to watching music there. Williams green is nice as well, some great food there. Seeing arcade fire tonight on the pyramid will be incredible

Go to Avalon - cafe & bar later at night. Find a table and chat to the people you find yourself with. In fact, if you are on your own, anywhere where ther are tables or benches that you can share, then your starting point is that you are already with people. Ask people who they've seen, what they've enjoyed so far. I've always ended up chatting to people when I have already stopped somewhere, rather than trying to find some people to talk to while I am still moving.

Only negatitive was the thieving bastard that grabbed my bag there, im normally very careful but let me guard down for a second.

Apart from that its fuckin brilliant!!

Sorry to hear about the theft gerard, sounds like you aren't letting it get you down.

@The OP, a lot of talking to randoms has to start with yourself. Good conversational festival openers include: Where have you travelled from, who are you looking forward to seeing, is this your first time and a other similar easy topics that come with the shared experience...failing that, there's always talking about the weather (Ssshhhh!)

Thanks! I was pissed for a few hours , but there's no point crying over spilt milk , is there.

Got it back in the end , albeit minus money, 120 cigs and my weekend "supplies" surprisingly the camera was still in it :O

Nothing a drop of vodka does'nt cure :)
