Keep Alcohol Cold?

I've got this image of desperate people sticking hands under groundsheets now, in the hope of finding someone else's cold beers :sarcastic: I had no idea people did that until I read this.

I don't really drink so it's not an issue for me, I plan to take some fruit flavoured vodka I'm making but nothing much else, maybe one crate of cider.

We slowly ate there freezer empty, or transferred food to my sisters. Got washing up bowls and filled with water to make ice blocks, we chilled all drinks first, and and even had food in some blocks of ice, about 1 hour away from glasto, we looked up the nearest supermarket, then topped up with about 10 bags of ice. This badboy cooler we left behind on our final day as we was so shattered and hammered we could be arsed picking, very silly i know, was about 400 quid. This year we are planning on doing similar, except smaller cooler boxes and 2 of them. Also Im going to make my own in the back of the van, to minimize opening the main one. Also this time im looking at taking 20kg of dry ice, this will delay the start of the melt of the normal ice by 24 hour, which would mean we'd take less and it would be lighter.

Last time it worked well, we had alot of crates each, maybe 6 crates each, and 3 of us shared the cooler, we also had a full english every morning, and burgers for tea for 5 days, so all was good and cold. It was just a bit heavy all together

We actually left it in one off the night spots, we took it too the Sunday headliner, as there was 3 acts before that we was going to be watching, so we was pitched up for the day, didnt have to move except for the toilet, also a good vantage point for a pic, if ye stand on it, after the final act we went wandering with it and was hammered so left it

I go for a combination of each of these. Use keep it cool boxes and bags with frozen bottled water and cartons of juice (which are nice a few days in anyway) to keep lager and ale chilled (going on to the latter as the weekend goes on). Once this starts to thaw the old water and tea towel trick and finally by the saturday/sunday moving on to things like pimm's or spirits with mixers as you appreciate the variety and they can be ok at (near) room temperature. My day back is a keep-it-cool rucksack, cost about a tenner, carries enough booze (plus clothes) and does the job perfectly each day...

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
